Frequent bm

Hi all

When do the frequent bowel movements stop after a haemorrhoidectomy???

When does one start to feel remotely normal in the toiletting department?!

I feel like I have to constantly go and suspect my diet is also to blame.

I'm eating a high fibre diet as advised by the surgeon but maybe it's contributing to the frequent loo trips.

What have you guys eaten dietwise post haemorrhoidectomy??

Please I need advice ☹️

Hi there, I feel your worry, I'm 8 days post op.I didn't go for the first 4 days but when i started the fifth day  with a bm i had another 3 that day, all with deadly pain, then day 6 was 3 bm's but day 7 was 1 and so far day 8 is 1 as well, I've been eating nothing but fibre (veg then fruit then veg then fruit etc) it's a balancing act. Eat lots of fibre to make stools soft and you end up going more frequently, eat less fibre you go less but when you do go it'll be hard and then more pain.  I don't think it's a miracle answer but what I've read on here it does get better but we've got to grin and bare it for quite sometime!!!

My personal story is

Day 1 - feel great and think this will be a breeze

Day 2 - feeling more pain and thinking yesterdays thoughts are ridiculous

Day 3 - extreme pain kicking in and feeling mentally exhausted

Day 4 - absolutely at my wits end, and definitely thinking having this done was the wrong choice and there's no end in sight

Day 5 - after the excruciating pain of the morning bm i feel elated to have gone but more pain to come

Day 6 - there's somewhat of a regulatory theme happening and feeling better for it

Day 7 - feeling pain when having a bm but pain is slightly subsiding and getting better at managing it too

Day 8 - things are becoming slightly easier day by day and there is a slight glimmer of light at the end of this god forsaken tunnel.

hope this helps and don't expect things to happen too early it's all going to take time.

How's ur recovery progressing now?

Day 8 & 9 were great, went once in the morning accept the pain for about 30 mins then the rest of the day was dare I say quite normal. But then day 10 changed, I went in the morning then again about an hour later which was more painful, but in the evening I spent over 4 hours in the bathroom because I had diarrhoea!!! It was excruciating agony!!! I just went from toilet to shower I don’t know how many times??

So it is different from day to day as I said it’s a balancing act making sure you eat the right stuff but not too much but making sure you eat enough as well!!

I do find this site quite comforting as people who’ve been through it keep saying it WILL get better! I hope so?

How are you doing now?
