Hi all
I’ve been on escitalopram for 19 months lots of ups and downs but never felt my self since being on this med so I went to gp and we decided to cut down the dose from 20mg to 10 mg so I had 20mg then 10 mg every other day for 10 days then then just stayed on 10mg the first week I felt no diffrent it’s day been day 12 on 10 mg and I woke up this morning and I feel strange anxious no mortivation and feel space out.
ANY ADVICE ?
Thanks
It’s going to take at least three weeks for your body to normalize. Your mind is looking for something that’s not there anymore and it has to adjust. I’m going through something from 20 to 15 not as big of a jump. Just hang in there it will get better.
That seems like a big jump.... from 20 to 10. Typically, I believe, it should be 20 to 15 and then to 10 and so on. It could also be that the med was helping and your symptoms are coming back. I went up to 25mg and it helped! Good luck to you!
Thanks for reply
I’m going to give it more time 😬
Hopefully it will settle down.
Thanks for reply
I’ve been on this med for 19 months and looking back it did help at first for a few month but I’ve never been myself on this med just felt numb all the time I think it’s time to try without all these med do is cover up things.
Thanks
Have you tried 5mg I had been on the drug for 19 years. It has taken a while to come off,Slow release stay in your body for weeks. The changes may not be down to the meds.Keep going It will get better in time, but it takes a long time.
Thanks Susan
Could I ask why you come off this med ?
Looking back what do you think about the med ?
Thanks
Hi Don 45258, I reduced my dosage of Escitalopram very very gradually, from 10mg to 5mg for about 6 months, then 5mg every other day for about 3 months and am now on 5mg every 3rd day and will continue for about 3 months, then 5mg every 4th day for about 3 months and so on until I finally come off it. This is because I used to be on Amitriptiline for over 10 years and came off too quickly and had horrendous withdrawal symptoms, which I never want to experience again, so my advice from myself and my GP is to withdraw very gradually. Good luck.
