I just want to share with you guys how I manage to get back from stage 4 to stage 3 in 2 weeks. I have been fighting with an infection for a month and I was generally feeling unwell, over the course of my illness my creatinine also went up from 1.64 to 2.56 in just 2 weeks. Thank God I finally found a good Doctor, she's the 4th doctor ive consulted about my sickness and she never gave me any medication aside from all these supplements which was fish oil and ketoanalogues. Went back yesterday for blood tests and my creatinine was down to 1.87 with 36% function. God is good!
Well done! What was your function percentage originally and what are ketoanalogues, please?
Hi. The lowest kidney function I had was 24%. I actually have made some research about ketoanalogues wih amino acids and all I found was that it is a good supplement for damaged kidneys. Most doctors prescribed this for people who are in pre dialysis because it could help delay the progression of declining function. Along with this medication, you also
need to follow a very low protien diet to get the effects of the supplement.
This is definitely good news for you (and your kidneys)!

Hi
Have you identified with any kidney decease? My situation is similar, my function went to 32% and keep changing, it went up to 74% and again back to some 43% etc. Can you provide me with more info on this medicine, ketoanalogues? Hope this is not a medicine for an infection, but supplement. I am going to ask my doctor for this medicine. I also have high preteen in Urine and uric acid in blood.
Thanks god is the provider and healer.
That is great news for you. I don't know but could your kidney decline be linked to your infection and once you overcame the infection your kidneys bounced back?
Is ketoanalogue a sort of protein supplement to help with nutrition when on low protein diets.
Hi Colombos. My kidney disease is unedintified, the doctor told me she can no longer perform a kidney biopsy due to the size of my kidneys being so thin and it may cause bleeding if we push through it. All i know is that I always had UTIs when I was a kid and my kidney disease diagnosis was 7 years ago.
Ketoanalogues is a supplement. I dont really know much about this supplement either but as per my doctor the major purpose of this supplement is to delay dialysis or for some to stop the progression.
I, too have high uric acid in the blood and very acidic, I also have a slight increase in my urea. Other numbers shows normal which is great and would love to keep it at that.
It would be best if you could brought up the ketoanalogues supplement to your doctor, it might help you as well you just need to strictly follow a very low protien diet
I agree John, most likely the persistent infections are playing around with the numbers.
The ketoamino acid supplements are already in use my mum has them in a form of protein drink. She has felt alot better since taking them but her numbers havent drastically improved as yet.
Body builders use ketoamio acids as a way of getting healthy muscle and to help with the kinds of diets needed to build muscle and lose fat. You can buy suppliments in health food shops but i would probablly ask your Kidney specialist before thinking using any.
Thanks a lot!
"All i know is that I always had UTIs when I was a kid and my kidney disease diagnosis was 7 years ago."
Snap! I also had constant UTIs from babyhood until I was 12 years old. Removing my right kidney when I was 12 years old solved the problem. Now very many years later I have CKD3 (diagnosed some 10 years ago when the eGFR was 54) with an eGFR of 33 at the latest reading, having dropped from 37 a couple of months previously. I suddenly started having repeated UTIs again 12 months ago. No sooner would I finish one antibiotic than the UTI was back, often showing a different bacteria. I feel sure that either the antibiotics weren't working or they were making the infections mutate. One antibiotic even landed me in hospital wth C.Diff (Clostridium Difficile) - apparently something the GP wasn't aware that could happen if he prescribed continuing the dose for another week!!! Anyway, I pushed a GP for further investigation saying that I knew something wasn't right and he (reluctantly) agreed to send me for an ultrasound. The result was a "grey area" on the bladder which thank God turned out to be a benign polyp but it was a helluva scary few weeks waiting for the op and result. One urologist thought that the polyp was a result of so many UTIs. The ureter was stretched during the op in the hope of solving the UTIs. However 7 weeks later, and another UTI, but fingers crossed now because my urine has remained clear for the last almost 3 months. Sooo hoping to hang on to this sole kidney for a long time yet. Will now mention the ketoanalogues to my renal consultant at my next appointment. Good luck to you and everyone with kidney/urine problems.
Thanks Jane for your very helpful reply. ☺
Dear Levzzm
Should the Biopsy result be conclusive of finding any bacteria or related infections? My biopsy result have no indication of infections. Is there any other means to check kidney infections, any test. My fluctuating GFR is stressful.
Thank you,
C
Congratulations. My primary care doctor and also my cardiologist both told me to take lots of fish oil too. I was taking 1000mg two times a day. They said to take 1000mg 4 times a day. I just started that. Hope my blood work next time will also improve.
