I am in the exact same position as you. I am curious as to what you have tried that people have commented on and what worked. Breaking down and crying on a daily basis is not helping me. This is the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life and nothing relieves it.
How long will the cortisone last? I too cannot sleep and it only started once I began physical therapy!! I think PT is aggravating the condition.
Honestly like Kelly said earlier this pain is excruciating I feel nobody actually realises how bad it is I'm on tramadol gabapentin paracetamol had the injection and like everyone says did nothing feel like showing this to my go and asking why they bother the only relief I got from the cortisone injection was the Anaesthetic used to numb it b4 injection I'm sorry if I sound a little bit abrupt but this pain is driving me mad I have a very strong pain threshold I laid for eight hours once getting tattooed but this!! Omg I've been up for the last two nights I'm going to try that tiger balm I've been using a hot water bottle gives me a little bit of relief 😢 I'm glad not that people have the same problem of course wouldn't wish it on anyone but you all understand what I'm saying and I'm not just whinging 😢😢😢
It is isn't it I'm a wreck no sleep emotional feel like I'm cracking up it's like the worst toothache but in your shoulder I'm off to fill my hot water bottle for about the twentieth time hope you get some relief Laura I'm going to try tiger balm I'll bloody cover myself head to foot if it works 😢😢😢
I agree - without ever wishing this on others, it's been such a comfort to me to know that I wasn't alone by reading this forum. Knowing that I was heard and believed and understood on this forum whilst experiencing the relentless excruciating pain of frozen shoulders was a balm. With no reasons and no answers and no helpful treatments it's a super-challenge to get through the hours, days, weeks and months after months of real suffering that this condition can bestow. We are all amazing survivors for having lived through this. Hang in there and know that you are not alone.
Ice helped me more then anything.
Honestly you feel like the only person in the world going through this much pain I have been signed off work for coming up to six weeks now mainly through the lack of sleep I'm like a zombie through the day can't even string a sentence together so now I'm worrying about that I wish they knew how bad this was 😢😢😢
hiya, ive just joined the forum, relieved to find people suffering the same thing,
i had a frozen shoulder 2years ago,4 cortizone injection hardly much movement in my shoulder for 6 months,
physio exercises on sheet of paper they gave me,but as the movement in my shoulder came back felt so
good and normal again, but over time i would get stiff and tight feeling which i would take pain killers, now the last 6 months just got worse feel so much weaker in my shoulder, when it plays up,it would effect my neck and my shoulder blade and suddenly get a sharp pain take my breathe away last 30 seconds, struggling with my job now,as my shoulder is frequently pain happening every 2 weeks,my doctor told me to phone the physio direct line, which i know just be sheet of paper with exercises on,any help on what i should do.
Maybe we should start some separate threads. One titled Effective/ Ineffective treatments for me.
One Sleep issues with FS
And Pain management for FS.
I have been online researching. I hear so much about what is not working . If we specified in the Titles that we want to only hear what is effective. Maybe we could find some solutions.
What do y'all think?
Went to see a Osteopath yesterday,so wished i had made appointment sooner, very helpful and explained what
was going on with the muscles in my shoulder, found out have a slight curved spin too,i think once you start getting
movement back after the frozen stage to see a Osteopath,Chiropractic,to help with the correct exercises to strengthen your shoulder muscles, hope this is helpful
Been to pyhsio today and after six weeks of waiting for my appointment and the excruciating pain he doesn't think it's frozen shoulder apparently if it was it would be totally stiff I'd have no movement at all so he's referred me for MRI he thinks it's an injury to my AC JOINT?? I'll keep you all updated xx
Claregella, are you sure this was a qualified PT. Firstly if you look at any scientific article you will find that no frozen shoulder loses the last 30 degrees of movement in any of the three measurable ranges. In addition a/c joints cause very little loss of range of movement. I would think any qualified PT would easily diaggnose an A/C joint without a very expensive MRI. let us know more especially the onset of your condition.
All I have written is esily found on the web.
There is a big difference between the kind of cortisone injection given by a GP and hydrodilatation, which is guided right into the correct part of the joint (either by x-ray or ultrasound) along with saline (under a degree of pressure) to expand the joint. That worked for me and many others on here, stopping the pain within 2 days and allowing me regain my movement.
same thing here, it's been 5 months so far. I had 3 cortisone injections so far into the joint, the last one wore off 2 weeks ago, back to square one.It really did help for a lovely 6 weeks, I could sleep and wash my hair! Haven't worn a clasp bra since April! Doing accupuncture, PT, massage, chiropractic. Using a cannibis oil cream, menthol-type cream, all the ibuprofen I can stomach. Ice, heat, tens machine. None of the orthopedics here do surgery for at least 9 months- more risk of doing it, than benefit vs. waiting. I also do have a small tear. Still crying every day too, sleep is just dreadful, which makes the stress and mood worse as well. Can't do anything- swim, yoga, pilates. Running is okay, walking is okay. Trying cryotherapy next, and going to a "shoulder pain" seminar by an orthopedic specialty group. It has been good to read that it seems to get less painful, even though ROM is still bad. I'll be happy for that day when it comes!
Hi Bobbie,
My doctor just diagnosed me with frozen shoulder in my right shoulder. We started with an x-ray. then he said we will do an MRI. I have had shoulder pain for the past three months. The pain is usually worse at night where it keeps me up. When I wake up in the morning, my arm and shoulder are very stiff. I take Naproxen Sodium 550mg, it helps with the pain a little. I went to about four physical therapy sessions, those seem to have made pain even worse. Can you please tell me what helped you.
I wish I had a magic solution to tell you. Once I hit frozen stage the pain got significantly better. Prior to that, nothing helped. I found heat felt good but in the end made the inflammation worse. Ice worked better. The freezing stage first month to around fifth is bad. I know that offers no relief but just being honest. I even went to a pain management center.
Thank you.
Hi Teresa, I have had frozen shoulder on both sides in the last 3 years. My advice would be to tell your GP to refer you to an orthopaedic consultant and ask them to consider doing a shoulder release operation. I had this done as day surgery on both sides and it was like magic! Agonising pain and lack of movement pre-surgery just disappeared. Was a bit sore for a couple of weeks but nothing like frozen shoulder pain. Requires committment to intensive physio for a few weeks post op but is so worth it to have your life back again. Good luck :-)
