Hi there. So i was recently diagnosed, and after hearing the diagnosis everything made complete sense ( my symptoms ) then i have a follow up with a different dr today, and she says she's not convinced 100%. So now she wants to too x- rays of my neck and shoulder to rule out arthritis due to constant neck tension. I'm sooooo frustrated. This day started so hectic, was running late after having to drive my son to school, so i forgot my daily journal ( to keep track of symptoms) I'm 100% sure it's FM, and so was the last dr. Sorry, just needed to vent ! Had anyone else been diagnosed then had them say they aren't sure ? I'm so angry because i was expecting to discuss managing the FM, not doing more tests... sigh

What is that test for ?
I forgot to mention, the dr said she wasn't 100% convinced because I'm not extremely exhausted... Common, I'm tired, but the exhaustion comes and goes, i mostly have tenderness and pain .
I also have had my this. I was seen by to hospital consultants and both said it was fms but when going back to my gp again about things getting worse and my vit d being so low he said no way was it this and told me to book in for steroid injections for frozen shoulder!! To which he can clearly see from my mri results is bone edema im suffering with as well as fms. I have no faith in my gp he evan cancelled my prescriptions as said i shouldnt be on meds so young. And to exercise only i had to have endless arguments to get pain relief so i can remain at work. Im not sure if i should consider moving to another gp.
Hi emily I really feel for you hun its so annoying when your told you have fibromyalgia then for another dr to say their not sure you do have it. my gp suspected I had fibromyalgia but it was the rheumatologist that told me I had it after having bloods done and a pressure point test and other tests to rule out rheumatoid arthritus. I also had an mri from my neck to my spine. it showed I had artthritus in my neck and spine.unfortunatly for us its all about tests to rule other things out. Im sure your 1st dr was right this other dr is just ruleing out anything else it could be. chin up know its hard and frustrating it is gentle hugs take care
Hi my vitamin d was very low, had to go on vitamin d tablets if I was you I would find another gp, who knows what their doing as your gp at present doesnt sound as if he does know what hes doing. I would definitly change if it was me. gentle hugs take care
you dont have to be exhausted all of the time with fibro it waxes and wanes has my gp told me. I dont always feel exhausted Im sure this second dr knows what shes talking about so glad ive got an excellent gp who knows what their on about feel for you hun take care
Hi Emily, i understand where you're coming from. I had 3 years of tests before i was diagnosed with fibro. I asked to be refered to a rheumatologist then at my next visit one of my tests showed anaemia and the doctor wants to attribute all my symptoms to that. been on iron tablets now for 2 months and feel worse but doc won't consider referal ubtil she's sure i'm no longer anaemic. I hope your doctor gives you some answers soon. xx
Yes for 10 years...being diagnosed is just the longest thing,..there are sooo many random symptoms....your not alone Emily...would be lovely for you if you didn't have it but...if you do..we are all always here...be blessed.have a lovely day..:-) xxx

The Cray is necessary so don't feel deflated we've all had one, we could all bet money on it showing up nothing much, because it did with us all. Ask also to be referred to pain clinic they are great, good luck with Cray and let us know how it went x
Hi Emily hope all goes well with the xrays your having, fingers crossed nothing will show up on them. I dont know what country you live in, but in the uk its not normally a dr that diagnoses fibromyalgia gps in our country refer you to see a rhumatologist he sends you for a bone scan more bloods taken and does a pressure point test on different parts of your body. their are normally 18 pressure point on your body. I got the full 18 they like to rule out other conditions, thats what the rumatologist did when he had all the results. I was called in to see him again he said yes its fibromyalgia. handed me a leaflet about it and sent me on my way. your gp can you refer you to a pain clinic. sorry for any spelling mistakes brain not functiong great today. also glad no 1 can see me Im stumbling about like Im drunk. gentle hugs take care here for you x
It took me 4 years and many tests and seeing different specialists before I got diagnosed in march last year. I thought I was loosing my marbles I was in dispair with it all. take care your not alone hun x
Hi Emily, when you say doctor is this your GP or a consultant? I've had a GP tell me she didn't believe in fibro and if it did exist it was her understanding it burned out in ten years and as I'd supposedly had it fifteen years I didn't have it!! I'd been diagnosed quite quickly by a Rheumatoligst, so I believed him. Ignore this second Doctor, ask to see the first Doctor again. There is also the possibility that you have both, I have at least three conditions going on, sorry my brain is foggy I can't name them right now, one does involve trapped nerves in my neck and spine so it is possible you have both if not more. I'm going for nerve induction studies to source some of the pain, organised by my fantastic Rheumatoligist, she thinks it's possible we can get rid of those bits of pain, that doesn't mean I don't have fibro too. I've also been referred to the pain clinic but that is a long wait even though I know the two girls who manage the appointments because I used to work with them. Try not to worry, get all the tests you can, let them rule out or in everything you can.

Hi emily you can have more than 1 condition, I have fibro me ms and arthritus thyroid problem diabetes angina. I wouldnt take too much notice of this 2nd dr to be honest with you. I would go with what the 1st said. some gps are better than others at understanding fibro. the best person to see about fibro is a rheumatologist their the 1s that are specialised in it. you can have more than 1 thing going on in our body gps should know that. take care thinking of you gentle hugs coming your way here for you hun x
Hi Emily, I'm with Kaz40 100%. A rheumatologist is best to diagnose FM and I too have all 18 trigger points. As well as FM I have osteoarthritis, cervical and lumbar degenerative disc disease, hypothyroid, high bp and cholestrol, CFS/me, tendinosis and connective tissue disease. So you can always have more than 1 diagnosis but it's good that you are having further scans/x rays as this is the only way you can get a definite answer. Have a good day x
hi emily weve all been through it hun endless tests different specialists I had so many blood tests, I felt like a pin cushion haha. get the test over with. take it from their a reumatologist is the best person for diagnoseing fibro thinking of you x hang in their take care hun x
Hi Emily; it actually sounds the "other way around for all of us"...most of us had to have "all of tests....X-Rays, MRI; multitude of Blood Tests etc"...trialing of many drugs, and then our own Research, to tell our drs that "I have Fibro....etc"...have the x-rays, as you may have some arthrites as well: I do, and so do others, and by treating the Arthrites, it can alleviate some of your pains....and treat the Symptoms of Fibro with the necessary treatments for it.....how about that....does it make sense?
