ive had a fsh level test done. The result was 90. Do i need to get another test done to confirm my menopause as I have heard fsh levels can fluctuate. I have a merina coil fitted and as a result haven't had a period for 3 years. I'm 47 years old and the reason I went for a test was because of mood swings. The reason I am asking is because I am trying to decide whether to start HRT but I didn't want to start taking it if the test i had was not conclusive.
My doc had me go for an FSH test back in August after I complained about a number of symptoms (insomnia, screwy cycles). My level came back at 57 (I am 44 years old) and she said that was high enough for her to say pretty conclusively that I am in perimenopause. I think that was also because of my symptoms, so sort of ‘big picture’. She did not recommend I have the test again, but I have read multiple tests should be done.
I had the fsh test done a few years ago test results were 29, just had it done again a couple months ago with estrogen all low results now, these hormones fluctuate.. I feel awful for most of the month maybe I get about a week of feeling ok..no periods for me either so I can’t go by that..
