Hi. I work full time with fibro but I'm struggling! My employers have allowed me to work from home since January so I don't have to travel which has been amazing of them but even doing a shorter day is a nightmare. I'm exhausted by lunchtime and afternoons are very difficult. I'm not sure what the future holds for me and full time employment to be honest but I'd be interested to know how other people cope x
Hi I work full-time, and have done for the 2 years since being diagnosed. I work at a college, I'm a tutor but not academic which basically means other than the bank holidays I only get 30 days holiday. I work longer hours than teachers and harder than my colleagues who teach academic less pay which means I have to go through the pain as I don't get near as many benefits nor the salary to be off. My employer had been difficult, I've had depression, excruciating pain and pretty much have been crying at work for the past two years. Due to fm being a disability they couldn't sack me so tried to bully me into a different department. With the support of my union rep and new hr department I was able to stay in my role with some reasonable adjustments, meaning I could work from home when I'm not teaching. My mental health is better when fewer stresses, therefore pain bearable. My relationship with boss is better, but I know as I get older it will probably get worse, so I know I can't do this forever so I am looking for something else that will pay the bills and make me happy.
I was diagnosed with figromyalgia in July, I am an industrial cleaner and went self employed over a year now and hoping to expand to a company, it’s heavy work and I love working I just wonder at times if I’m able to pursue my business because of the symptoms from fibromyalgia.
