Functional bowel syndrome?
I was just told my diagnosed from this fructose test was negative. It says the patient's symptoms during the test were suggestive to possible fructose malabsorption.. symptoms during the test were not coranated with hydrogen/methane..
Findings suggest the diagnosis of functional bowel syndrome without convincing evidence for fructose malbsorption or small intestinal overgrowth....
I have to fallow up with my doctor..... why would fructose make me sick if it was negative.
I also can't seem to have gluten or dairy..
I'm getting realy tired of all this.
How awful for you! The worst part (at least for me) has been to find a diagnosis. In the last year, I've been through MRI's, Cat Scans, and all other tests you can imagine. It seems that doctors are not as concerned about the cause, but rather, eliminating things a scan would show up. I'm at the speciallist stage now - Who knows! My best wishes to you on your pursuit of the cause. If it wasn't for the pain, it would be easier to cope with.
Oh yeah... I am at the specialist stage now 2.
Maybe the test has produced a false negative result and you are fructose intolerant. I would avoid fructose and see if you feel better.
I have been fructose free for 2 months almost 3 from the advice from a dietition. But the gi doctor wanted to test it and when in did the test last Sunday I was sick until Wednesday. I just for this paper in mail today and I'm not sure if I should add it back or not. I go see my gi doctor on the 29th
Since the test made you ill, I would continue to avoid fructose and tell your GI doctor on the 29th about your bad reaction to the test. If you feel better without fructose, it is better to keep it out of your diet.
Deffo avoid fructose till your feeling better.
*fingers crossed* for you - very frustrating to go through this, isn't it? Yesterday, my specialist passed me on to a pain specialist. Guess it's just a 'wait and see' type of thing! I'm in Canada, and our health care system isn't always what it's supposed to be. Take care...
K.kgirl, It sounds to me like your doctor needs to get you on some medication to help relax the colon because when your colon is spastic you can have all kinds of things go wrong diarrhea, constipation, bloating, etc. I hope you feel better and that your doctor gets you on something to help with the symptoms your having. Good luck and keep us updated on what findings your doctor has and if your put on med's that help. God Bless
Yes something... I actually just had a endoscopy yesterday and it showed decreased folds in my duodenum what ever that means....
