I have been prescribed 80mg per day for pulmonary oedema and am experiencing ringing in my ears (tinnitus). As I take other medication I can't be sure without stopping the furusimide if it causes the tinnitus and no doctor I have spoken to agrees. Does anybody else have this side effect? [/b]
I have been taking 40mg per day Frusemide for years for high blood pressure. Recently my ankles began swelling to an alarming extent and my doctor increased the dose to 120mg per day. I immediately began getting a high pitched whistling in my ears. As none of my other meds were changed I can only assume it was the result of the increased doseage of Frusimide. Am hoping it goes away when the ankle swelling is under control and I go back down to 40mg per day.
Yes! I was on 40mg a day and developed tinnitus. I really beieve the med caused it. I stopped taking it and within 3 weeks the ringing stopped. The Doctors do not agree, they say if it was the med both ears would be ringing, I only had ringing in my right ear.
I had all sorts of side effects on furosemide, including a thudding in my ears. I also developed gout.
No longer take it and have been on Bendroflumethiazide to help with my hypertension and things seem better.
I've been on Furosomide 40mg, Lisinipril and Bisoprolol since February this year and one of them is causing Tinnitus. It's not there all the time, but it suddenly appeared when my doc increased my Lisinipril dose, so i blamed that, but could be any one of them. I told my doc, he said he didn't think it was the meds causing it, i think he's wrong. I also got throbbing, pulsing in my ear, doc said it was my cartoid vein, i think that's the meds too. This can last for an hour or a week, but thankfully i haven't had that for over a month, so fingers crossed it's gone, wish the Tinnitus would go too.
