(sometime in denial) but just accepting it day by day, and this forum and ppl seems simply amazing and helpful. God bless them. Anyways, i try my best to be in liquid diet just drinking broths n all .... and now finally im eating eggs, yogurts, white rice porridge, puddlings, n all. Still dunno if its ok or not, cuz there is practically so much info out there. Any more food ideas guys? that i should be eating on week after the flareup ?  I did look up dividiners  & got help in messages (thnks for that) . My BM is still not 100%. Here are couple of questions :

a)For how long i should stay on diet like that before i can get back to normal high fiber diet ?( i think right now im on soft diet)

b) What are the supplements or meds you guys would recommend me ? ( ie aloe vera juice , etc etc)

c) What is my physical activities should be ? can i go play soccer and stuff? ( im barley 27, staying home is killling me)

d) Im kinna nervous that i dont have cancer and stuff , and what should i talk to my doc about?? i have appointment tomorrow? Also what are the outcome of surgeries ??

THank you guys !!! god bless everyone (DD sucks)

Hi. You could maybe try mashed potato and grilled or baked fish or chicken but chew well and eat slowly. Introduce fibre very slowly, and dont rush to be on the go. These flare ups and the meds take it out of you and leave you feeling weak. Your own body will tell you when you are fit enough to play soccer again. I had surgery about 8 years ago. I jad 18 inches of colon removed and re attatched. Since then although ive had issues with ibs, until 3 weeks ago , no broblems with dv flares so had forgotten how bad they can be. Im still not back to normal so please don't worry if your recovery is slow. Hope this helps some .

If it were me, I'd stay on the soft diet until the antibiotics had ended, then slowly try introducing small amounts of soluble fibre each day to see how your insides handles them.  It's not a case of stop low fibre one day, start high fibre the next, more a slow gentle moving over bit by bit.  I'd start with something like some well cooked or pureed vegetables, or vegetable soup.  If anything plays you up, make a note of it and leave it alone for the time being.  You can try again later.

Supplement wise, a good probiotic, and medication wise a stool softener like Metamucil.  An anti spasmodic on standby if the cramps return.  I also take Aloe Vera capsules, but you can get bottles of the pure juice which you take by the teaspoon (it tastes nasty hence the capsules).

Exercise wise:  Once you are over the attack you should be able to live a normal life, but whilst you are still getting better, I expect you will have stomach pain, and find bending, lifting, jogging uncomfortable, and the LAST thing you want is to be kicked in the stomach.  I would start with walking and swimming.  The water will support you, and if you uses a walking machine at the gym, you can get off if your tummy hurts!

I too was nervous about cancer - I thing everyone is - but the tests would have picked it up.  You need to be asking him about medication and prevention of further attacks.  My experience of doctors is not good - we on this forum seem to know more than they do, unless they suffer themselves.  Regarding surgery, I've already given you my opinion.  Just bear in mind how young you are, the fact that there can be complications, the length of time it takes to get over the surgery, would you, or even could you, play football with a stoma and bag, the effect on your marital life?  I think you need input from someone who has had the surgery at a young age, and how it has affected their life.  A man of 27 does vastly different things than a man of 70 can do - not just sports, but heavy work!

The most important thing you need is time and patience - everything seems very black and white at first, but it isn't.  A couple of months time you will hopefully be feeling very different.  Best wishes.
