Fybogel - once per day - when best to take?

So, I've been prescribed fybogel and been told to take one sachet per day.

However, I've not been told WHEN to take it.

Am I best to take it in the morning or evening?

I've been taking mine in the evening but to be honest its made me worse, has given me griping pains and I'm running to the toilet all the time so I'm just trying it every 3rd evening now. Hope it suits you better

There should be a label on the front of the box giving you directions for use. If not, check inside for a patient information leaflet.  All medications have these.  Otherwise, check with your chemist or go back to your doctor for further advice.

However, it may well be that it doesn't matter when you take your Fybogel.  I  tried Movicol for my constipation at any time and it still worked in the end.

Hello Philippa

This is a question not a statement. I am only saying that as sometimes it looks like I confuse the two and this annoys other people.

This is based solely on theory as I hope you will correct my assumptions. If Movicol takes 8 hours to work, this is a guess, does this not mean the best time would be before bed otherwise if you took at 7pm then will the Movicol not start giving you a kick at 3am. I am the heaviest sleeper I know, seriously no one sleeps heavier than me, so my concern would be waking at 3am or even worse accident at 3am.

Please correct me and put my mind at rest.

Movicol is a very mild laxative.  I tried one dose at any time during the day and it did nothing. I upped this to two with a big gap in between with some result. On the third day, I had to stop because it was beginning to make me run.  However, it didn't affect me during the night.

Hmm, I don't blame you. The easiest thing to do in terms of dosage or advice on medicines is to ask your chemist, they'll know more than anyone!

Thank you

do try the liquorice, !!!!!!

I would check this with your Doctors Surgery or a chemist.

Chemist is probably best.
