gall bladder operation

on Friday I went to see the surgeon who will do my operation, I was quite pleased to hear that my pred is not a problem and he said they will give me an extra shot of steroid at the time. I'm on 5/6 mg at the moment, my operation is at the begging of July.

Am I right in thinking this is a good result.

Hi Angelcake, I can only go on my own experience.  I am getting teeth implants and I know there is a vast difference in our surgeries.  Mine was carried out under local anesthetic while yours will probably be general.  I had to double my steroid dose the day before the work took place, the day of getting my gums opened and titanium metal things put in and then an extraction of one tooth and then my gums all sewed up and therefore had to double the pred the next day.  So all in all I was doubling from 15mg to 30mg the day before, the day during and the next day and I was fine.  Dental surgeon was a bit concerned about bleeding but I texted him the next day to let him know that everything was fine.

So me thinks you are getting a good result.  Take care.  Pat

Yes, sounds very reassuring and positive, Angelcake - hope it all goes well for you.

Hi angelcake, I have read your other thread regarding your lump in your wrist. I didn't answer as I am afraid I didn't have any suggestions. However, regarding your date for the gallstones, how great is that! As I said before I suspect it will be keyhole surgery and according to my friend who is a Dr, she says the preparation work of checking your name against your tag, anaesthetic checks, etc, takes longer than the procedure!! I wish you all the best, and do keep us informed on your op. Regards, christina
