I was driving to Florida with my wife and stopped in Georgia with back pain that turned into a dead gall bladder which put me into the hospital for 9 days after having gall bladder surgery the doctors left a bile tube in my stomach for 6 days and I felt like I was dying then when they took the tube out I was feeling great then the next day I left the Hospital, it's been 2 weeks since my surgery and im having constent pain in my solar plexus, stomach, I'm hot then cold I can't sleep or hardly eat, and I'm wondering if I can take mylanta for pressure, I have vicodins for my pain, i cant get comfortable everytime I start to sleep deeply I'm afraid I won't wake up so I stay up, if pain consists should I see a doctor ?
I would. The hot cold sounds like fever which indicates infection.
Sorry you're going through this. Don't wait! Get yourself to a doctor to get checked out!
I am so sorry but can tell you that vicodin doesn't touch this pain. Nor does hydrocodeine...the only thing I have found that helps is Tylenol and the gastro doctor said I can take up to 6 extra strength Tylenol without damage to liver or kidneys (advil and aleve DO cause problems to those organs). My primary care doctor said the reason narcotics don't help with this pain is that they work on muscle and bone pain but not organ pain. Also, please start yourself on Pepcid 20 mg immediately. It cannot hurt you but may give you some relief. I have been hurting for 15 years where they removed the gallbladder and for the past two months, it has been excrutiating! I went to a Gastro guy last week (finally gave in because it was just TOO painful) and he told me he thinks I am having stomach issues, not gallbladder removal issues. He may be correct, because the Pepcid helped me after 2 days. The pain isn't completely gone but it is AT LEAST 50 PERCENT LESS and I am very thankful. I am having a scope on the 20th to see if he can find something. I don't want him to find something but I DO want this pain to stop. Tylenol and Pepcid 20 mg are both non prescription, CANNOT hurt you and MIGHT help. Please give them a try. And, yes, I believe you should see a doctor but you are only two weeks after surgery, so you are still healing, my friend! If you are having diarrhea (common problem after gallbladder removal) you can take Cholestyramine (prescription) when it is occuring and it will stop you up...powder that you mix with water or juice. Of course, Immodium also works faster. Try to eat bland until you are better...especially no fat. Good luck.
