Gallbladder is out and still in pain

I had my gallbladder removed on April 30,2015 due to a large stone.I was doing ok after the surgery until this past Sunday. All of a sudden this sharp pain hit me in my right side and it has not gone away.It feels like a stabbing pain. It's a lingering pain but when I cough, yawn, take a deep breath or sneeze it gets worse and it's like someone is stabbing me.I get very little sleep because I have to keep switching sides because of the pain.I called my doctor yesterday and they told me to take miralax and gas-x.Neither have helped yet.I have an appointment Thursday with the surgeon.I sure hope he can figure something out. This pain is no joke!!

You are just one day after me I was 29th. Like you originally I thouht I was doing OK, but these last few days pain in my right side, was with gallstones has come back. This is not nearly as bad as it was with gallstones and I have not had to call Dr just a niggle really, I'm hoping it will settle down.

No further appointment with the surgeon. Still one dressing which District Nurse said she would come and take off on Friday.

Still trying to be careful what I eat. Had cauliflower cheese last night. Had not had hard cheese for ages as I was on lo fat diet. Have quite a stomach ache this morning, think it was probqably the cheese. My body is still working out what to do with the fat now my gallbladder has gone.

Hope this settles down and you get some answers.

Take care

Praying for you

shewee it's normal to have pain were the gallbladder is after surgery. But if it's very bad you may need to get checked for any other stones or grit. I had mine out in December due to one stone too and am also getting pain were the gallbladder was. Have had ct scan and all ok. A lot of people seem to get this pain. It may be adhesions after the surgery. My gp said its common and will settle down. X

I removed mine last week and I have this pain since I was at the clinic and it is there and just exactly like you described it. I am also desperately looking for an answer.

When you say you removed yours last week , you mean you had your gallbladder out do you?

I don't know if you have read my post further up.

They did say to me recovery period of 3 weeks for keyhole surgery and 6 weeks if you have the bigger op.

Be patient.

Hope this settles down for you

Hi Shewee .... I had my op early last month ... I too experience the same thing as you ...... at one point I thought maybe my lung wasn't working properly because I couldn't take a deep breath without it hurting; however, all of a sudden (late this afternoon in fact) I suddenly became aware that for the most part the pain had gone.   So, I think maybe its something to do with the healing process and all the nerves that get "jangled" around.

Thanks Sarah, I hope I get some answers tomorrow.I will pray for you as well.

Take care and God bless.

Thanks Moonday, I sure hope mine settles down soon.Glad to hear that yours has calmed down.I know what you have been going through.Take care.

Well hopefully when I see my doctor tomorrow I can give you some insight on what the problem may be.I will post when i find out something.Take care.

Thanks for your information.I just hope that it eases off soon.I can't wait to talk to the doctor tomorrow.

veeren92502..... I just got back from my doctors appointment and he said that the pain is normal because of having to lift the liver to get to the gallbladder,He also said to walk alot to relieve the bloating and drink plenty of water and that I can take Gas-x to help relieve some of the gas pain and bloating. The pain should subside in a few more days.He said the pain fully subsides at about the 2 1/2 week mark from surgery. He gave me some meds for my incision to help dry it out.All in all everything looked fine.Hope some of this information helps.Take Care.

Thanks so much Sarah. I had my gb out on Friday last.

Actually I am felling better today.

Thanks

Veeren
