Gallbladder mystery?

Over the summer, I got really sick for about a week and a half…most of it was super intense, sharp, stabbing pain in the upper right quadrant of my abdomen. Went to urgent care, they said if it gets worse go to the ER. Went to the ER, had a CT and ultrasound, and nothing showed up, so there was still a mystery. And then, I started getting better.

Two-ish weeks ago, I started getting the exact same symptoms and pain, in the exact same location. Two ER and 3 primary visits later, my primary said to get a HIDA scan, in case there is a hidden issue with my gallbladder that regular scans can’t pick up, because my symptoms, especially the location of my pain, looks like gallbladder problems. But there are no stones or anything, so if there is a problem, it’s probably functional.

I’m in near constant pain, and walking causes the most pain…and I’m a teacher, so I move all day long.

*Has anyone ever had something like this before?

*I have my scan scheduled for Tuesday! That’s two weeks earlier than the original date, which was about a 3 week wait!
*
I have been in way too much pain to wait 3 weeks, so I did everything in my power to find a way to get this done sooner. It took many calls, both to my doctor’s office and insurance company, me taking another whole day off work and driving 2 hours north to the hospital with the closest available time slot…

**How long does it take to get results back from the scan? I would think not that long, but my doctor’s office won’t schedule a follow-up until after they get the results. Seems kind of backwards to me since that would delay them getting to me…
**
But I’m ready. Hope it’s not a long one on me. They said they can take up to 4 hours! But that it’s usually an hour to an hour and a half.

Sorry the formatting is weird. I’m not sure how that happened.

that’s awful for u
I would have thought that a CT scan & Ultrasound would have picked it up
hope u get on fine with your other scan
can they check the bile gng thru bile ducts properly as if this not working can cause pain they have to actually put dye in bike ducts to check
hope this helps

CT and ultrasound don’t check for function, HIDA does.
