Gallbladder Op Waiting List

Last week I met with my consultant who after looking at my ultra sound scans, x-rays and numerous blood tests decided he wanted to remove my gallbladder and place me on the urgent 4-6 week waiting list. So this week I went for my pre-op assessment. 

The nurse told after doing all the tests I can't yet be placed on the waiting list due to my high BP. Till this week I've never evening know I had high BP. So they've referred me back to my GP to monitor and try and manage the high BP before they'll put me on the list. 

Has anyone else or is anyone else suffering from high BP who is on the waiting list and if so how did you manage it, anything other than more exercise, less fat to help it. 

Just feel a little deflated that after all this time of being in pain every single day for nearly a year this one hurdle is now stopping me from potentially being pain/symptom free.

Why don’t you make an appointment with your GP so you can possibly start treatment for the high blood pressure? The quicker you start treatment the sooner you’ll be able to get the surgery. Hope you get sorted soon! xx

I've already seen my GP. They just put me on some medication to treat it. 

I go back in 2 weeks for another BP reading and fortnightly after that.

I had high blood pressure for which I took amlodipine 10mg. Over the course of several months, I lost a lot of weight due to gallbladder attacks. After I had surgery doctors took me off it as my blood pressure was getting too low on amlodipine. Now I don't take it at all. I try to walk every day and still eat mainly low fat as too much fat in one go still gives me pain, though nothing like it was pre op. I think the reason my blood pressure came down is due to having lost weight.

I waited 4 months to have my gallbladder removed. I was told the waitilng list was 9  - 12 months.

This is the whole point of having a pre op to pick up on things like this. I know it is frustrating for you but if they had carried on and operated on yu with your high BP there could have been complications.

I'm sure they are just doing what they think is best for you. Be patient and hang in there. Easier said than done I know.
