I see this message board is pretty active so hoping for someone to hopefully ease my anxiousness.

Over the last few months I have probably had about 6 attacks. Usually happens late at night.

I had an ultrasound yesterday and got results back today. They said it is filled with fluid and sludge. So they want me to get an MRI to get a better look because of how much fluid and sludge there is. Scares me they want me to get an MRI and aren’t telling me everything. She says good chance i will need gallbladder out but just scared it will be cancer somehow. Is this normal to need an MRI after ultrasound? I would think the ultrasound would have been enough. I just hope it is my gallbladder and not something else. MRI is scheduled in a week.

Many people suffer with gallbladder attacks with just sludge or even a low functioning GB. I had multiple stones and sludge. Like you I was also often woken in the middle of the night with an attack. The first time I had an attack I thought I was having a heart attack - it is normal to fear the worst.

To me, it just sounds like you have a good doctor who is being very thorough. MRI scans are used to detect many things and not just cancer. In your case it could be that your doctor wants to see if there are any stones elsewhere in your biliary tract. Sounds yo me like you are in good hands, try not to worry. I had the surgery almost 10 months ago and have not looked back. Best of luck.
