Gallbladder problems

⚠️⚠️ 🚨 LONG POST ALERT! 🚨⚠️ Can you all help/shed some light on this current illness/to and fro from the doctors I have? πŸ™„πŸ˜ž I had a scan last Monday to check for kidney stones, but there wasn't any. But the doctor did say I had very inflamed kidneys still, and my infection hadn't gone and my gallbladder was distended 😱 fast forward to Friday, I made an appointment with my GP even though the results from my scan hadn't been received yet, but because my pain was 8/10 and I'd had diarrhoea πŸ’©πŸ’© he referred me straight to a&e. Ended up in hospital over the weekend with no one really giving me any answers, apart from 'suspected gallstone' and antibiotics and painkillers prescribed even though I apparently had no infection and the painkillers didn't even touch the pain. Saw my GP today and he got the results; and they're all clear which is good, but I'm still not convinced as I'm in a lot of pain in the right side of my abdomen and right shoulderblade.

Doctor suggested to think of it as deep muscle/ligament pain rather than internal organs.  He prescribed gastro resistance tablets for my gurgling stomach, diarrhoea and passing gas & wind more often than usual.

I haven't been to the gym in about 5 weeks now because I'm taking time off whilst I'm ill.

Please help/give advice! I know we don't have any doctors on here but I feel we're all very much in tune with our bodies!!!

Thank you, from a very poorly Katie πŸ˜©πŸ€’xxx

What made anyone think it might be kidney stone in the first place?

Pain with kidney stone is usually in a different place than it is with gallbladder trouble.

It sounds more like gallbladder issues to me.

I have experienced both gallstones and kidney stones.

Try a low fat diet and see if that helps.

If it is as the doctor thinks deep muscle and ligament pain this should settle in time.

Hope this improves for yo and you are soon back at the gym fighting fit.

Take care and keep in touch.

I think because I had a kidney infection, the nurse just wanted to see if it was kidney stones as well because of the pain etc.

Ohh yeah, it's in the lower back isn't it?

Ouch! That doesn't sound good, I'm just confused/annoyed that the guy who did my ultrasound said my gallbladder is distended, yet he didn't put that on his findings.

I'll try the diet and see if any improvements are made, hopefully it'll help!

I'm now starting to get pain on the left side and headaches too, are these symptoms?

Ah yes, I'll give that a few weeks to settle, if it is muscle/ligament related. But I haven't been to the gym in ages some don't see why that would be the problem.

Thank you

Well, I think your GP is messing you about.  Try to get a referral to a gastroenterologist, who would know what other tests to perform and how to diagnose and treat you!  Pain on your left side could mean that your pancreas is inflamed.  Ultrasounds don't always pick up on small stones and sludge.  There are other tests that can be performed to check the actual function of the organs.

Best of luck to you!  Please let us know how you get on! xx

Hello.. I have an update!! I have an ultrasound scan in Thursday 19th and a breath test to see if it's a bad stomach bug on the 21st!! Yay for the ultrasound! Still in loads of pain, but I'm not feeling unwell anymore!! Xx
