Gallbladder removal and IBS

hello i was wondering if there is anyone  here who had their gallbaldder removed and also suffers from IBS, if you do how did your IBS react to that surgery and to not having a gallbladder? is you IBS worse? how are you keeping it under control?

Mine is definitely much worse.. and even more complicated , is at times i have issjes of getting constipated from the pain meds.. but there is diarrhea backed up behind it! !! So horrible. .. From what i have heard from friends who have had the surgery , they had bowel issues at least a year after .. amd diet related definitely would cause ot to act up. .

Yes, I had mine out Sept 4, 2015. I've had IBS for several yrs as well as gastric reflux. But a few months before I had the surgery I started getting what we used to call in high school "sticky shits" that have continued until now. This is horrible! I was hopeful that the surgery would help this, but so far any time I eat anything with fat I get it. Wipe, wipe, wipe... Including having to use wipes as well. I can sometimes be in the bathroom for half an hour. Thanksgiving was horrible. I immediately had to use my daughter's bathroom and then had to stop on the way home at a pharmacy that was fortunately open. When I just had IBS it was constipation only, rarely ever diarhhea. I made a decision today to go through my cupboards and refrig and get rid of all fatty foods...

Interestingly, your post gives me hope that maybe this will end in a year or so. I sure hate to think of it going on forever...
