Gallbladder removal what to expect?

Hello!

I’m 26 and just discovered I’ve got gallstones .  After being in what I can only describe as agonising pain -predominantly my ab upper right side

- I went to A&E last night (after arriving back off a flight, not the best holiday!) and it was confirmed I have stones and need my gallbladder removing.

I had an inkling it was this, my Mum had issues with her gallbladder and had it out and I’ve lost a fair amount of weight in quite a quick period via dieting - which the Dr confirmed a likely cause as well as the hereditary aspect. A little worried as I’m only mid 20s, anybody a similar age faced with this?

I’m having the removal op and have been told to go to A&E if the pain gets unbearable again. In the meantime I’m to eat a low fat diet.

Does anybody have their own gallbladder removal story to share? I haven’t had surgery before and it

is keyhole... but I’m curious about the op itself, recovery and how your life has been post op?

Many thanks in advance,

Alice xx

hi, it sounds as though we had the same, i was in agony, couldnt even walk, stuck it for 3 days, like some one stabbing me every few seconds, rushed in to hospital, gb diagnosed, large stone stuck, you wont know any thing about the op, i was sent home next day,   no pills or follow up,  you must take it easy, no lifting/awkward movements, you will damage yourself, drink lots water,   hope all goes well, terry.
