Hi i had my gall bladder removed april 2014 but since having it removed i still suffer with all the same symptoms as what i had before i had it removed. I constantly keep having flare ups which involve really bad pain which is in my stomach and under my ribs, vomiting, shaking like im having a fit. Everytime i go to my g.p. they just put me on more medication i am currently taking lansaparole, co-cordamol, cyclizine, pregablin i was also put on domperidone but had a really bad reaction to it. I had an MRI scan which showed adhensions and desmoid tumour which formed round the surgical incision on the umbilical area where they cut me to do the gallbladder surgery. I have had the tumours and adhensions removed and still suffering with flare ups i cant go a full month without having one. Is there anyone that can give me any advise or help im at my wits end with it all feel like i have no life. Its effecting me with work with my 6 year old little boy i feel so sorry for him seeing me curled up in a ball in agony crying then hes crying and so upset seeing me taken by ambulance to hospital and being admitted all the time. In the last 12 months ive been admitted 11 times can anyone offer any advise please im desperate thank you in advance
well Coral! I had mine removed on may 18 and has been fine since then.
I have read many post op issue. maybe a stone is left in your duck ? has this been rule out ? Also try to watch your diet ? Apple juice is something to try drinking in case you have something in your duct.
I'm concern about the amount of medications with out any result? I think you should look for another Physician.
Hi Coral so sorry your suffering so badly! I had my GB removed in 2012 and was fine for 3 months then the D started I have almost become housebound because of it so I know a bit of what your going through. I was told to get on with it but I fought for a diagnosis and I have BAM Bile Acid Malapsorbtion. Dont you give up love ask for another appointment with your Consultant and tell him you can't carry on like you are xxxxxxx
I think it's awful that your gp and the hospital seem to just leave you to it. Mallic acid in apples and apple cider vinegar helps soften any gallstones and allows you to pass them naturally. Are you careful with your diet - i.e., low or no fat?
Hi thank you for reply. I asked to see the surgeon who removed my gall bladder in clinic as i was still suffering and developed a lump on the right side next to the incisional site. Her reply was i have done the sugery it hasnt worked and im not willing to do anymore i was gob smacked in the way she spoke to me as for the lump she said it was scar tissue not long after that i was taken by ambulance and admitted again where i got a different surgeon who carried out a CT scan and said it showed a desmoid tumour which i had removed december 2014 and every time im admitted they taken my bloods and they always come back with my white cell count is to high. I expressed my concerns of all the medication as i am worried it will cause damage to my kidneys or liver. I asked about having an ERCP test doing where they put a camera in to see if a stone is stuck in the bile duct the doctor said that tests carries alot of risks i dont know what to do anymore
I feel like i am banging my head against a brick wall. The doctors have seen me in the waiting room on all fours rocking and crying with the pain all they seem to do is put me on more medication. Honestly i have a kitchen cupboard which is just full with tablets. I stopped drinking alcohol over 18months ago although i wasnt a big drinker to begin with i stopped eating anything with high fat content i dont ever order a takeaway or eat out i stopped drinking coffee i take a bottle of water everday to work. I started just eating salad and that was it but then my doctor said i wasnt doing myself any favours as i was overloading my body with protein sometimes i will go a week with no food at all because im in so much pain and nausea
Coral you don't have to put up with the that BS!! Go higher about the that so called surgeon's attitude!! I really think that we just don't complain enough!! You have to be firm there is a patient complaints procedure look into it in the meantime tell your GP your concerns about your blood count and tell him you need answers not medicine!! Im trying to keep strong its just so hard feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Ive got to the point where i think there is no point going back to the doctors because all they do is fob me off. Everytime i ask why i am still getting all the same symptoms as before i had the gall bladder out and i get back is well i dont honestly know tey this medication if no better come back its a joke. Im constantly worried about the effect its having on my son and im worried about losinf my job which i love because once the flare up starts it can be that severe i cant move off the floor yet all my employer is worried about is me being in work 😕
I wrote a letter of complaint about her i got a reply stating her intention was not to be rude but she was running behind with her clinic and basically an apology that was it. But i have wrote another letter although i am not expecting much. I am currently awaiting a repeat MRI scan although been waiting 2 weeks now and still not heard anything. My g.p. has even put on my records at risk of emergency admissions to hospital yet they still dont do anything they start 2 make you feel like its all in your head which they can clearly see its not. I have an appointment with a professor on the 22nd june who specialises in it so fingers crossed i might get some answers i will keep u posted
Prior to three months any sign and symptom things were not right ?
Everytime i have blood tests my white cell count comes back high every time and they always said another thing in my blood which indicates infection is always high but they just say they arent worried about it. I had nausea vomiting severe pain and shaking for 8 months before they took my gall bladder out and still suffering with same symptoms 13 months after having it out. But the silly cow surgeon said to me before removing it that she was taking it out even though i didnt fit the criteria as it usually effects people who are fat in their 40s and eat a hig fat diet
I'm in my 40ties 150-160 lbs. not sure where the stones came from but they do happen. My WBC was low prior to Operation, every other things else in my blood work was okay. I'm thinking this was due to infection from inflamation ... we will keep u in our prayers
Hi Harrington no nothing I was fine I got over the op very fast considering my age I was 67 and I have COPD at first I just thought it was my diet but then realised it didn't matter what I ate I would still get D, they now think I may have a stone lurking as I I ep getting pains in the region where I used to get it. Going in on the 17th June for the camera xxxx
Coral it is not your problem that the consultant is running behind with her clinic. You should not be spoken to like that. I too had a situation when I was in hospital a couple of years ago and wrote a letter of complaint when I came home.
I'm sorry this op has not worked for you but you need to find out what is going on here.
I had gallstones and had my gallbladder removed 4 weeks ago.
Still have a bit of pain in my right side (where I had it with gallstones) but feels like it will settle down. No nausea, I have never had that.
Do not worry about your little boy, kids are very resiliant I think they are better at handling these things than we are.

you will be fine when they look inside. surgeons , some do not see all when they are in . My surgeon who removed my GB told me stome some stone was out of GB. However, he removed than as well. some stome escape the GB. Please keep us inform after your appointment.
Hi Harrington I had all this done a year after my GB removal to see why I was getting D so bad and they found nothing I was told i had to put up with it! Anyway we will see I just hate that camera!
Thanks sarah im really hoping i get some answers soon a gentleman at work said he had his gall bladder removed and suffered the same he ended up having a MRCP test and he said it came back as a blockage in his bile duct and inflammation in his pancreatic duct
Did you not have a ERCP before your op Coral? I had an MRI and it was found that I had stones in my bile duct so a week before the GB op I had to go and have a ERCP where they got seven stones out of the bile duct then a week later I had my very badly diseased GB removed
No never had the ERCP test. I have also read that there is a test called MRCP which is less invasive compared to the ERCP
