It’s been a little over six weeks since my gallbladder removal surgery and I’m not any better. Still have extreme nausea and my stomach is upset all day long. Very lightheaded and fatigued. It’s just been horrid. I do force myself to eat a little something every two hours. Things like bananas, applesauce, oatmeal, chicken & rice. Very small portions. I’ve been taking a multi vitamin and fiber supplement every day. I’m using ginger chews for nausea. Just wanted to hear some recovery stories of those who were sick after getting their gallbladder removed and then recovered. Also, any advice on how to get through this, things that might have helped others in my similar situation. It would be greatly appreciated as I’m just worn out by this but trying to stay positive that it will get better.
Hi there John
So sorry to hear things aren't great at the mo. I had mine out 30th June and I have to say struggled big time for at least six weeks and was in a really bad place. I feel a bit better now but still get nausea a lot whick I hate.
Hang in there and let us know how things go.
Hi Joanna,
I’m glad you are feeling better. When did you start to feel a little better, was at about 6 weeks or longer? Was there anything that made your nausea or feeling sick any better? How often do you get nauseous now? Sorry for so many questions. Just really need some advice on how to deal with this and it gives me hope when I hear others do get better.😊
Hi johnette. Sorry about you sickness. Let me start by telling you that you are special. Glad to hear about being positive. Well for nausea I used to drink apple cider vinegar organic. Just a tablespoon and it will help get all of the impurities out. Also I used medicinal marijuana for nausea. I don't know if you indulge. Also I think the supplements might be too hard on your stomach. It might help you with your NAUSEA. I was sick too after surgery but also in 2 months I was rushed back to surgery. I had a stone stuck in the common bile duct. After that surgery I was feeling so much better. Might check that with a ct scan. I am doing very well now and can eat again. I feel for you and will pray for you. Good Luck Dear. Hope this will help you.😎
Hi John
I drank herbal tea, any really but ones with ginger in, ate small amount of porridge with mashed banana etc. To make it worse I know a lady who had hers out a couple of weeks before me and was virtually back to normal!![]()
I did go back and see my consultant who assured me that it would be six months before my system adjusted. Apoarantly my GB was quite adhered to my liver so that would be sore for a while. Hhhmmm, very low at times but it is improving albeit slowly!
Regards
Yes I’ve been told the same thing, it can take 6 months to a year to recover. My hairdresser had her GB removed and it took her 6 months to get over feeling sick but a year to get her appetite back. It helps to hear people recover but it’s tough going through it. I’m hanging on to the stories of recovery. I also get pain on my right side where the GB used to be and it radiates to my back. Did you or do you ever have that?
Johnette
Hiya
Yes, I did get a lot of pain at the site where my GB was and also round my right side, when I went back to the consultant he explained that a nerve runs near where they operate and this can get aggrivated. This has now settled. As for now nausea is the worst thing plus general discomfort when I eat an frustration that I still feel like I lice on baby food!!!!
Regards
Good Morning!
Do you feel nauseous all day long or does it come and go? Are there times you feel normal? I still feel sick all day long to my stomach and nauseous. It’s the worst. Praying it will settle down soon! We will recover. Just have to keep positive.
I've had trouble for 1 year I just had a H Pylory test. I had an endoscopy they found nothing. Had CT scan they found nothing. I had open surgery gallbladder removal a yr ago and been worse. For bile reflux (it's not acid) it helps alittle emniprozole 20mg every morning. Thats it. No one can seem to find a problem or a cure. Many people who had this surgery now suffer from depression because no one seem to help them with the upper stomach pain, fatigue, sadness, nasea and bile reflux. Waiting for results on Pylory test.
At first i was but it did settle, at times the nausea does come back which is horrible.
Plenty of ginger tea helps a bit, like you say just got to stay positive, my surgery was 12 weeks today!! I didn't think it would be this long but we are all different and I at least know it isn't my gallbladder playing up, that was a devil as I had weeks of all good then felt terrible for long periods.
Regards
How long ago was your surgery?
I was told an hr or so. It depends on how much work the surgeon needs to do. And any complications that might arise. It varies from person to person.
What foods are you consuming? Animal fats are bad. Try a vegan diet for a few weeks. See how you feel. I'd like to know your outcome. I eat a lot of veggies, hardly no fats. I feel great. Lost a lot of weight too. Hope you feel better. 😎
When did you have your surgery?
How are you feeling today?
Hi. I’m doing ok. Still nauseous but it hasn’t been as extreme the past few days. Still eating the same bland foods and not much but I do try and eat every few hours. How are you doing?
Still bad. Waiting H Pylory test results.
My upper stomach pain and bile reflux continues.
Thank you Fernando for your kind words. Good to know you are better. It’s really rough feeling like this and I’m praying it will end soon. It will be 7 weeks this week since my gallbladder was removed and I keep hoping i’ll wake up better. Trying to keep calm and it helps to know others recovered.
Hi Joanna, how are you feeling? Any improvement?
