Gallbladder removed 3 weeks ago but nausea during night just started

After spending 10 days in hospital in January this year due to gallbaldder/liver infection and a failed operation to remove my gallbladder in March due to heart problems under aneasthesia i finally had it removed 3 weeks ago.

The surgeon told me it was a very difficult operation (took 4 hours) and he almost changed it from keyhole to full open as when they went in they found my gallbladder was necrotic and 75% dead and was just full of thick sludge/puss, it had also attached itself to my liver, so i ended up with a chest drain and 4 days in hospital before i was allowed home, he couldn't believe i had not shown any symptoms/suffered any problems in the last 10 or so months apart from a spate of sickness i had in june/july where i was ill 4 out of 6 weekends, he did say that had they realised how bad it was they would have removed it back in January but on the plus side he did seem to think i wouldn't have too many problems post op as it looks like i've been living without a functioning gallbladder for most of the year and my body had seemed to acclimatise itself to the missing organ.

So apart from the normal post op pains ( the chest drain site was the worst and has just subsided in the last few days) i've not been too bad, i've tried to watch what i eat apart from an odd lapse (dam Ben & Jerry's on offer at asda) and haven't experienced much in the side effects side apart from when we had a mild chilli con carne one night last week and i needed the loo 3 times the next day.

But over the weekend i've had a strange feeling through the night into the morning of really mild indegestion/hungry feeling and nausea and infact as i type this at lunchtime Monday i still have the hungry feeling, does this sound like bile reflux or some other normal post op gallbladder removal symptom, i'm reluctant to go to my GP surgery about it yet but if it persists to wednesday then i will go (my normal GP only works wed-fri) mainly as the wife is nagging me to go already but then she has been a bit over protective of me since my stay in hospital in January.

Anyone else suffer from these symptoms and if so what was it and did pass/resolve itself or did you end up needing medical help with it?

Hi...I would sugest that you do not eat anything too fatty after 7 o'clock.  In my experience if I do I feel the same as you do, basically it's the liver having to  produce  more bile to break down the fat. If I were to eat anythig fatty late at night I'm very restless and feel literally quite liverish as they say. Give this  a try, I also eat my main meal during the day now too which helps as one is more active.

My op was about 7 weeks ago . Had pancreatitis which was awful . Anyway recovered really well after op . Was a double op as they repaired my hernia while in there lol 241 on the nhs.  When I eat anything fatty late at night ( I love crackers and butter or cheese ) I feel sicky and heartburn all night and then feel sick during the day too. Just think we need to be a little more careful what we eat. Hope you feel better soon

Seeing your GP wouldn't hurt none.  From what I have seen people on her take car sick pills for the nausea.

I had my op Nov. 11 and I'm finally feeling like me again.

I hope you feel better real soon.  Hang in there.
