Gallbladder Surgery Day

hi having my surgery done in 4 days can anyone explain what happens before surgery ? any tests before surgery? i mean on the day of Surgery, i’m very nervous and cant find any info on the net

hi how long did you wait i had my pre assessment in September

By now you should have undergone various tests etc, (well at least that’s what happens here in the UK) … for me these various tests and appointments included:

  1. See your GP who will arrange for you to have a scan.
  2. Undergoing a scan.
  3. CT scan.
  4. Blood tests
  5. endoscopy and colonoscopy: I had an injection before these were done and I hardly realised they were undertaking it …
  6. A few days prior to op - appointment at hospital to check your heart etc.,
  7. On the day: checked in by someone; nurses take you to where you can change; anesthetist has quick chat: someone else had a chat and filled a form in but I can’t remember who or what that was about.
  8. You go down for your op when after a cheery chat with operating staff you are suddenly asleep.
  9. When you awake in the recovery room you’re taken to the ward: I was there until 5pm that same day.

I hope this helps. On the day there seemed to be no time to worry about the impending op as I was seen by so many people (or so it seemed).

Sending you very best wishes.
