Gallbladder

My friend has a gallbladder problem and is waiting for the hospital to operate their have ask her to only eat drie bread no fatty stuff. today she had some fatty food and when to the toilet and notice that she is bleeding i cannot find systems any where about bleeding. should she go to the hospital.

Are you in the UK? If so, get her to call NHS Direct on 0845 4647 and speak to one of the nurses.

Is she in pain? If so, I suggest going to the hospital or calling an on-call doctor, depending on how severe it is. If not, make an emergency GP appointment tomorrow.

She might just have piles or a small tear, especially if she has been constipated. I've never seen bleeding on a list of gallbladder symptoms, but it could be that - the bowel is very complicated though so it needs to be checked out.

If she is bleeding profusely with sweating, feeling faint and looking very pale then she should definitely think about going to hospital but if she is still feeling quite well and it is only nose bleed like amounts on the toilet tissue then its probably just some superficial scratch or scrape and nothing to worry about. If it continues to worry her she should try and see her GP tomorrow smile

i agree with the nhs direct post - a nurse will ring back and discuss the problem and then advise if A&E is the right course of action or get you to contact the dr they will also be able to advise on any other signs to watch out for and what action to take. obviously they may err on the side of caution as they are only dicussing symptoms over the phone and not examining the patient. but in my experience it is good to get an opinion on weather you should get seen urgently or wait untill your GP can see you.
