I have gallstones and have had an infected gallbladder which im told is ok now. also been tested for jaundice but told im clear. just wanted to know if anybody knows of the stages of this illness and anything i need to look out for while waiting for surgery. the past three days ive been having diareah and dont know if this means anything and im a bit concerned. thanks
Just stay healthy. They won't do the surgery if you are sick. Drink lots of water and rest. Eat a low fat diet.
I think we all got some kind of jaundice since the gallbladder isn't working right it affects the liver but for me I was put on Librax until surgery which helped a lot. I looked in the mirror one day and looked yellow, but it went away after I started the medicine.
I didn't have diahrea when I was waiting for surgery. It might be from foods you are eating. Avoid dairies, fatty and spicey foods. Drink a lot of water.
I haven't heard anyone talking about stages of this illness as you called it. You will have pain in your stomache, back, and sides. Bending will hurt. Lifting heavy things can make things worse.

I had my first attack Oct. 23 and surgery Nov. 11. I'm in Oregon, USA and this site helped me a lot. Stay healthy and avoid sick people.

Agree with lori's advice. Im in uk. Drink plenty of water or weak juice I read a lot about fresh apple juice helps to keep things calm has to be fresh from the chiller section not from concentrates and I felt that helped I still have it daily now post op but not as much. From my experience it doesn't have stages as such just flare ups. My gallbladder was inflammed, enlarged, infected and had gallstones so although extremely anxious I knew I had no choice, it had to go as I thought all that going no must be doing some damage.
Good advice been given just try not to stress. This condition can throw up all sorts of stool movements. Good luck.

As others have said I don't think there are stages of gall bladder problems.
I was in hospital for 10 days this time last year due to gall bladder infection and finally had it removed 8 weeks ago due to first attempt being cancelled while in theatre due to detection of heart problem. When they operated 8 weeks ago it took them 4 hrs due to the gall bladder found to be necrotic and also attached itself to my liver, spent 4 days know hospital with a chest drain in place due to liver bleed.
However between the infection in January and operation in November I only had a few instances of any problems, I had a bout of severe back pain that kept me bed bound for 4 days in March and then in June/July I had 5 weekends out of 6 where I was unwell and a random day when i woke i felt fine and then a short time later just stood having a shave and came over all dizzy, hot sweats and nausea.
My surgeon couldn't believe I hadn't suffered from any serious side effects from the necrotic gall bladder I had in me, so as you will read everyone seems to suffer differently. Touch wood I've not really suffered any side effects since surgery which my surgeon predicted as he said my body must have already adapted to life without a functioning bladder. The only thing I've suffered is mild bile reflux during the night and occasionally mild nausea in the morning but I've been on Lansoprazole for a week now and that has eased, my stools have definitely changed since surgery though. I have my followup appointment with my surgeon today.
