Gallstone or bowl problem? Odd symptons

Hello.

Well on Wednesday night went to gym whilst already tired and over did it. Went home drunk protein shake and slept.

Felt so thirsty and tired and cold all of Thursday. Thought it was exhaustion or dehydration.

Friday felt better, so thought I had past it all. Friday evening felt fine.

Saturday morning passed a mixed poo, then started having yellow mucus run by itself out of my anus. I felt dehydrated again so drunk water, more water I drunk more mucus passes. Also have cough.

Sunday passes similar, but in evening night no mucus passes, hope it is improving. All saturday and sunday no more poo passes.

Monday I feel good, but a bit pressure for no poo, so go to poo, a fair bit comes out in one go, but hard to tell as in smaller pieces upon releasing. A little pale brown. Now continuing yellow mucus again and occasional small pieces of pale poo, similar mince I guess.

One of the problems is the yellow mucus discharge I can't control, it just comes out and seems to increase with water intake.

Sorry its disgusting to describe. But its started so suddenly and in an odd manor, I feel it can't be serious, can it?

I cant work out why I have this cough too, is that just dehydration? I'm trying to drink a lot of water.

Any advice or experience of these strange symptoms? Is it possible a gallstone?

Hi

you need to go to your gp asap...

And get some good medical advice .

gallstone gives you pain akin to a heart attack absolute agony ..you feel like your ribs are broken and your guts are on fire ...

you vomit , uncontrollably and generally end up calling a doctor or ambulance ..

to get a diagnosis of your symptoms only a gp can really help

hope that helps

Hi, Matthew, if you can get to a gastroenterologist without going to a gp first, I'd suggest that you do that.  The yellow mucus could be yellow bile, mixed with the natural mucus secreted by your intestines.  The gallbladder acts as a valve and secretes bile into your small intestine during digestion.  When the gallbladder malfunctions, there is no way to properly measure out the bile.  Either lots comes out and you get intestinal irritation and diareha (can't spell it) with mucus or not enough bile is excreted and you have constipation with mucus as well. A gp may or may not know enough to help you with this.  There is also a condition called bile salt malabsorption.  Normally the bile undergoes a chemical change and is reabsorbed by the body.  Some people lack a hormone intrinsic to this process, and can't reabsorb the bile.  There is a bile salt malabsorption group on Face Book that can help with diet suggestions, etc.

You may need to have some tests, including a liver panel blood test to see how your liver is functioning, an ultrasound or a CT scan.  An ultrasound can't always pick up the smaller stones and sludge that exist in a gallbladder, so if the ultrasound doesn't pick anything up, urge your doctor to order a CT scan.

Best of luck and let us know how you do.

Thanks for the information, especially the detail on the gallbladder.

Since writing the original post the mucus has hugely reduced, now only a tiny amount passing with faeces. My faeces are correct in colour, but a bit sloppy, but only first time passing since mucus stopped many hours before.

This cough is just making me feel it is viral or bacterial. And the fact I am a 28 year old with no history of medical problems myself or with in my family heritage.
