I have a solitary small stone sitting in my gallbladder for now over 20 years .Last year I got a pain attack and had to rush to the hospital where I was given relief medicines .I feel mild pain at lower right ribs (gallbladder point ) when I start eating .
My surgeon recommended for removal of gall bladder .My physician however was of the view that the problems in eating were caused by acid reflux and not by gall bladder .On physician 's advice I took PPI (esomeprazole) for one month and I felt a lot better .However the stone is still there .My ultrasound shows a fatty and somewhat "white liver ".My physician has advised to avoid sugar and sugar made things and go for a fibroscan of liver .
just wondering should I go for the gall bladder surgery or not ?
Any advice from the Group on this .

Firstly I would say whether you have your gallbladder removed or not, your diet is of the utmost importance. Your gallbladder, even though there's only one stone visible, isn't doing its job. Fat must be avoided, refined sugars as well.
I don't drink alcohol, however, before I had my GB removed my doctor rang me one evening to say that I shouldn't drink alcohol in the evenings. I told her that I didn't drink at all. She then told me that the results of my blood test showed my liver was being affected as if I were an alcoholic - it confirmed to her that I definitely needed to have my gallbladder removed, but that in the meantime I was absolutely not to have any fat a all in my diet.
I don't think medication such as esomeprazole would dissolve a gallstone, but of course it would help with the acid reflux.
Best wishes.
Yes you should. My niece had just on large stone in gallbladder. She tried to live with the pain for 10 years. But after endless suffering she had gall out. She is now pain free and doing well. It is up to you to have it out. I had multiple stones and I'm glad I had it removed. So give it some thought. Good Luck.
