Gallstones issues

Hi does anyone know how long you have to wait to have an operation for gallbladder removal, mine started again this year in mid May and after waits of 3 to 4 weeks for tests and different hospital doctors I have yet to see the surgeon in another 2 and a half weeks time, don't know how long I have to wait after this before I get a date for the surgery, I am bothered in the meantime that another stone will get stuck in bile duck or something worse, I'm with Chesterfield Royal Hospital

Hi

your surgeon will tell you his health authorities guide lines as to how long . My health authority Cornwall was 17 weeks . But I waited 2 weeks and got a cancellation. I am a full time Carer and I explained that I am not sure but I think that may have given me priority.

If you have another attack you must ring an ambulance your notes are all set up for an operation and they will no doubt slot you in as an emergency .

once you see your surgeon you are on the right track ..

See if you can google chesterfield Royal hospitals or your health authorities guidelines for waiting lists for ops ...

Hope that helps

If you're eyes n face turn yellowish thats a sign of jaundice

You should go to A n E . My attacks started one a month then

one a fortnight until I had wrong food on hols then it was 2 a week

Then every day so it had to come out. If u get yellowish n feverish

Like I did its Hospital time n tell em it has to come out no waiting

Its not a sore op nuthing like the pain of attack . Good luck

Hi Stella, I think it depends on the severity of your individual condition. I had my first symptoms in December and was diagnosed with three stones in January. I went down hill fast and was unable to walk at all with my pain. I was in and out of hospital in February where it was decided my gallbladder was so infected it needed to settle down before surgery. I was on 22 tablets a day for the whole of February and March and had my gallbladder removed on April 2nd. I am told this was really quickly and I know people who waited over two years for surgery.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your surgery but it does seem to depend on your health area and your individual needs.

I hope you dont have to wait too long to get rid of the awful pain that gallstones brings.

5 months on I still have pains and am about to have a camera put down to see whats going on now!!

All the best and I hope you don't have to wait too long.

Each area may very, but once you have seen surgeon then give it a few days and ring the surgeons Secretary, they are very helpful as they do have the ability to try and bring you op forward. Explain how you feel and can they make a note to put you forward off someone drops out.
