Hi guy i was recently diagnosed with gallstone loads of large ones i have constant pain in my back ribs and chest sharp pain and dull pains and feel sick all the time theyve put me on the waiting list for gallbladder removal im literally petrified ov surgery but i know its gotta be done as i have a 7 year old and a very demanding 2 year old im never away from my kids so hospitals scare me to leave them i carnt eat much only fish finger potatoes brown bread i was wondering if there is any other tastier ideas as everyone else is eating lovely fatty meals and i can not all i am drinking is water and apple juice i was just wondering if anyone has experience on how long it will actully be for surgery as he said 16weeks it just the worst case in waiting ??? I carnt cope with not eating much i really love my food
Yes, I am in the same identical position as you are. I can't take it anymore and I'm sooooo terrified of surgery n being put under but I know I can't take this pain anymore. Mine is really bad I can't eat any fats at all but this is what I've been eating for the past 2 months while waiting for surgery. Any way you can mix these foods is fine.
Potatoes, chicken breast (boiled only), saltine crackers, rice a roni (no butter), green beans, chicken base to boil pasta in for flavor I add chicken to it after I boil it and let it simmer, ice pops, raspberry jam (I eat it in English muffins or crackers as a sweet snack, bananas, apples, pears, hard candies, sliced lean turkey, water, decaf green tea, apple juice, chicken noodle soup and that's really about it. It really sucks and I'm truly sorry you're going through this too. Mine hurts on the right side but I get these other painful attacks where it's real bad pain in the uppermost middle of my stomach right by my breast bone. Omg it's hurts so bad! Are you getting that too?
While I was waiting I rang up the appointments line explaining how in pain I was and they put me on a cancellation list. I had my surgery on 14 July, three months after I was put on the list. In the meantime, eat small portions of low fat meals. I found chicken easy to digest, and you can cook this in different ways. I liked it with noodles or plain boiled potatoes. I found almost everything I ate caused me excessive bloating and pain, so I do understand your problems. I hope you manage, and don't have to wait too long for your surgery.
Ye i get tha also and it goes across all my back at one point i thought i was having heartattack i ended up in ane he said hes put me on the list but the consultants may want to see me first so might delay it and thanx for the advise ill try anythink aslong as it nice to eat im currently sitting here feelin like crap dreading if i get any pain and now my little boy is poorly with d and v i just want it out i just want them to phone me and say you can come in tomorrow to have it out which is not going to happen they gave me codein witch are useless they make me sick do you have any advise one pain relief
They sent me gone with Vicodin but I hate how the pain meds make me feel too so I don't take them.. Mostly I just deal with the pain as best I can until it passes but it's bwcominore and more frequent pain as I wait. I feel dizzy a lot and weak fr all of this so scared of surgery so sure stress and anxiety aren't helping. When is your surgery? Mine is Aug 2 and I'm freaking out!
Ooo i wish mine was tha close but i no when i get a date ill be petrified i just want to eat i get dozzy alot to as i suffer from anxiety aswell it just a night mare codien make me sick aswell 😩😩😩
Do u feel better after surgery and i dont no any numbers to phone they was a bit laid bk so im worried theyve even forgot to put me on the list i dont even wanna wait 3 months if i go to my doc can they fast track it i wonder ???
I am only just over a week following surgery and I already feel better than I did before. I can eat anything ( I am still going for smaller portions and haven't had anything too fatty - but I have had ice cream, chicken stir fry, cheese and tomato sandwiches, soup, etc), no more nausea! Whereabouts are you? Which hospital? Do you have a letter confirming your diagnosis? I am sure your GP surgery would have a contact phone number for you to ring. I rang, and my husband did, and they were very helpful and put me on a cancellation list. I had previously been told it would be six to nine months and I couldn't have waited that long. I emphasised how ill I was and they put me on the list. Honestly, it is worth ringing up weekly and seeing where you are in the list, and asking about going on a cancellation list.
Omg this gives me hope. I have bad anxiety and this has been an extreme stress on me. I really feel like I'll die when going under and it scares me to no end. Thank you for sharing how much better you feel. Tara, were in the same boat I'll be praying for you.
Hi! Don't be scared of surgery!, I had my surgery 6 days ago and I was in and out of the OR in 45 minutes and I haven't take any pain medication since day one( I had no pain at all) I just feel sore as I had done lots of abdominal exercises .You will do all the pre-op tests so don't worry about anesthesia as my surgeon told me anesthesia should be the least of my worries ( this is not a long surgery).
As for food the surgeon said I could eat anything I want but bc I have IBS I was already in a Gluten/ lactose free diet and I'm still eating low fat for while , you will do fine!!!
and feel better too!!! Good luck!!!👍
Ye thats what i fear aswell that i wont wake up n i just want this thing OUT !!!
Thankyou i hope i have it very soon so i can get bk to myself again x
Walsall manor they didnt gave me anythink but i sogned my consent on the surgery form they said up to 16 weeks with 16weeks been the longest wait its usually sooner ill go docs amd see what they say thankyou
Here is the outpatient appointments number: 01922 656520.
Try giving them a call. Sounds like you won't have too long to wait. It will be worth it x
Please try not to be too scared. And when you do go in for your op tell the anaesthetist your worries and concerns. They were so kind to me and they really look after you well. I was booked in for day surgery, but as I didn't go in to theatre till 5pm, I was kept in overnight for observation. Take care. X
I've just been eating soups, boiled veg, turkey, wholemeal bread / toast, tuna in spring water and muller lights. I've not had a diagnosis myself as all my tests so far have come back normal and my gp seems clueless. Good luck, 16 weeks is a total joke! Don't think it will be long until it takes the NHS 16 weeks to put a broken leg in a cast!
I asked about private but tgey saod the same amount of waitin time nhs are terrible
I hope im in and out n i hope i get a nice lol just fed up now it literally ruins ur life
Private is so much quicker. But when I rang up to ask how much it was more than £2600.
