Gallstones

Hi everyone i have gallstones and would like to have my gallbladder removed but i can t. The hospital took 5 yrs to tell me i cannot have my gallbladder removed because of the large veins around it. you would think the doctors would have known this instantly after looking at the x rays and scans and a camera into me and telling me this, but no they would rather mess me about for 5yrs saying yes we are going to remove it. getting me to the pre op appointment and then telling me oh by the way we can t remove your gallbladder as it is to high risk as you only have a 30% chance of surviving the op. and they call themselves specialists in the field of gallbladder removal. the hospital is Freemans hospital Newcastle upon tyne.

Wow that’s ridiculous making you wait that long! So what’s the alternative then? Do you have to carry on suffering or are they going to treat it some other way? I’ve been waiting 1 year and have my pre OP next Monday.

You are entitled to a second opinion from another doctor or hospital.
Don’t take this lying down.
I had kidney stones a couple of years ago and one consultant said he was reluctant to remove them because I have horseshoe kidneys (they are joined together) and the operation was too risky.
However he did refer me to another more experienced consultant who successfully removed the stones.
OK 30% chance of survival they have explained the risks to you and now it is YOUR decision and choice.
That’s my thoughts.
Good luck with all this.
Take care and keep in touch.
