# Gasping as I fall asleep-sleep apnea ruled out! Anyone else?

This is by far the most disturbing symptom. It has happened on and off over the past year. I have had two sleep apnea tests and been to 4 cardiologists/2 electrophysiologists. It happens just as I dift off and it sort of feels like my brain forgot to tell my lungs to breathe. Just curious if anyone else deals w this debilitating symptom.

I know numerous people that that happens to and they are perfectly healthy. A couple of them already have anxiety so it could be related to that. I feel like it’s just the way our brains are. We are all different and sometimes the signal from the brain to the respiratory system might get delayed for a second. nothing bad happens because once that signal gets there we start breathing. You’ll never stop breathing because it’s an automatic function of our body.
