POSTING THIS UNDER HIP REPLACEMENT AS THERE IS NO FORUM FOR GASTRO INTESTINAL DISORDERS OR INFECTIONS
I had a hip replacement in August 2018, and am less than three weeks into recovery. I was very sick the following day, and was told that it as a reaction to the spinal.
I have been ill ever since. Nausea, that appears to be phasing out, dehydration, dry mouth, light headness/headache. bloated stomach, constipation followed by occasional diarrhea, extreme fatigue and am sleeping like three was no tomorrow. No appetite, and have started on a course of probiiotics - on the third day, and they may be helping, as I am feeling somewhat better having slept - again - from 11 am through 3 pm, after a full night;s sleep. Still do not feel hungry, so made up some Horilcks, and that's it. I am drinking a lot of water.
Is anyone aware of a similar bug doing the rounds in the UK, or is this still a reaction to the spinal? I aspirated, during surgery, and was very sick the following night, and have been since then. When admitted, I may have been coming down with a tummy bug, but this is not a certainty.
I do have a very sensitive stomach, and shaking this thing off is proving to be difficult, although some slight improvement.
