Hi Teri
I have to eat gluten free so I just eat gluten free cereal. The gastroparesis specialist dietician I saw switched me to 'white' cereal - that is cereal that is NOT wholegrain. It must be low fibre. The fibre or wholegrain makes it much harder for our stomachs to digest.
I cannot eat oatmeal. You could try flaked rice as a porridge. I am not that great with those type of semi liquid/solid things as they 'sit' in my stomach for hours.
Try to figure out if you are okay with milk. If not, switch to a milk like rice milk or coconut milk alternative. Stay away from nut milks unless you know you are okay with them as nuts are also hard digestively for lots of people.
Also, if you are okay with dairy milk and coffee, you could switch to a cappuccino or similar as you will enjoy the benefit of the milk calories. I can drink coffee, but am not very good with tea!
I get some fruit via baby pureed fruit pots. I add a few spoonfuls to cereal as a topping. The dietician also got me to try cottage cheese. I have that on crackers and I can tolerate it. I also tolerate some smoothies designed for children (about 90-100 calories worth), which adds more nutrients I hope. I also manage to eat a bit of yoghurt, cream cheese, white gluten free toast, plain low fat gluten free vanilla cake (homemade), baby food version of chocolate pudding, small rice pudding pots, jelly (Jello)...
I am supposed to eat every couple of hours - tiny amounts - so I am currently on 6-7 'meals' a day. They are trying to halt my weight loss. Some days I manage it, other days I don't. I keep trying.
I try to eat some main meal type food, but in very small portions. I am limited in my success. I managed a bit of baked gluten breaded cod with a few baked chips (fries) and a few green beans tonight. The lighter the better - so white protein, white carbohydrates, and safe veg (I can usually eat carrots, some green beans, and sometimes chopped spinach or chard).
I can't help with the Reglan as I am on Erythromycin at the moment. Have you looked at the AGMD site? Google it if you haven't already looked at it. You might find the answer there.
