Hey everyone, I am a 24 year old and have recently began taking more care of my penis. I am uncircumcised, a virgin and never pulled back my foreskin until about 4 months ago when getting diagnosed with Balanitis. Since then, I have improved the sensitivity of my glans to where I can comfortably touch it and wash it with only warm water when I shower. For the past 4 months I have had major anxiety about it, where i’m constantly worried about it and stressing out if something looks different on the glans. I have gone to see my GP multiple times about it and have done swabs and urine tests where everything has come back clear and healthy and he tells me that it looks completely normal and that I have nothing to be worried about.
Yesterday when washing it, I accidentally used slightly warmer than normal water and felt it straight away. After drying it, I realised redness on my glans and felt a minimal irritation. I used coconut oil and a gel for minor burns on the red areas. Today there is a bit more redness and a slight increase in irritation, so I washed it again and didn’t apply anything to it.
Does anyone have any recommendations for this ? I feel that my glans are still very sensitive and when I put anything on it like coconut oil or a body moisturiser, it slightly feels irritated. Will this be something that will improve in a couple of days on its own ?
Also, i’ve realised generally when coming out of the shower and drying my glans, it looks shiny/scaly and feels dry. However, the glans look better the next morning. Is this normal? Or is this something I should be concerned about ? With how sensitive my glans are, I am worried about applying anything on it so that it doesn’t get irritated.
What does a normal penis glans complexion look like ? Or is it different for all men ? Is it normal for it to be a pinky/red complexion ? Is it normal for some areas of the glans to be red and some to be pink ?
Any answers, advice, recommendations would be really appreciated. I am just constantly anxious and nervous about this and its really messing up my mental health. I am worried these problems are all in my head and making it worse for myself.
