I have been diagnosed with type 1 herpes down there.
I didn't have herpes when i was expecting before. It's my first baby since i've contracted it.
I know that my o.b-gyn will put me on suppressive therapy 4 weeks before my delivery...
But my question is what happen if i'm going into labor after only one day or two of medication? Will i have a c-section? Will it be fine for me to have a natural birth? And for my baby?
Also, what happen when you give birth? Are they washing the baby right away? Will i be able to have my baby girl at least for a moment?
To all of you who are thinking i shouldn't have a baby because i have herpes, please do not respond or comment please...

The only thing I know is that you will have to have a c section I'm not sure about anything else but it's safe with c section so that you don't pass it to your child. And that child can come out perfectly fine and not have it. If your having a putbreak when you go into labor and have only took a lol of your meds you need to notify your doctor asap.

In your first sentence you wrote "type 1" with "down there"... I am sure you meant type 2.. Unless you did mean type 1, in which I dont think will affect the baby during natural birth at all..
And when you mean "expecting before", did you mean? in your first pregnancy before this one? or during the beginning of this current pregnancy..?
As far as child birth with HSV2, C-sections will more than likely be the outcome, especially if you are experiencing an outbreak.
