I was diagnosed with genital herpes about a year ago. Since then, I have only just began my second breakout (a lot milder this time - thank goodness!) However, I've noticed that both times I've had a break out my gums have become inflamed at the back of my mouth and overlap onto my back teeth.. It's really uncomfortable to eat, speak or even just close my mouth because I'm always biting my gums! I had no signs of oral herpes when I was diagnosed, does anyone else experience this or know what it could be?
Yeah it's right at the back and only on one side! I thought it was a wisdom tooth last time but I was told all my wisdom teeth had already come through and it only seems to be when I have a breakout which is strange! There's no bleeding when I brush either it's more like a flap of skin (which sounds disgusting!!)
Right I see - are you sure all 4 are fully through?
I'm not sure if it could be related to hsv but maybe it's worth visiting the dentist with this - you don't have to mention hsv, people visit the dentist all the time for gum problems - it could be something simple and unrelated, you never know but if you're in pain and can get to a dentist I'd get is checked out. No problem , sorry I cant give you the answer you were looking for! Are you UK based?
Could it maybe be a side affect of medications you take when having a breakout ?
