I have just been diagnosed with herpes, and this last day has been the worst. I have a horrible headache with eye pain , chills, aches, muscle pain, genital pain. This is my first outbreak and I was just wondering if anyone else has this? Or if these symptoms become worse should I go to a hospital? i'm confused I appreciate all the answers thank you.
My last outbreak started last week & I also had flu like symptoms, I just took something for the symptoms & to make my fever go down & it went away after a few days. If you get too sick & ur worried it never hurts to see your doctor. But it’s most likely just symptoms from your first outbreak.
If you can, you should definitely go to the doctor, it sounds like this might be your first outbreak and the faster you can get yourself on antivirals the better and quicker they will start working.
As the first outbreak is always more severe than other ones, your symptoms are normal. You should take more rest, eat lysine foods and avoid stress. These may be effective in relieving your symptoms. But if your herpes symptoms get worse after 5- 7 days, you should meet your doctors. Most herpes cases are treated by antiviral medications
The absolute worst for me was day 4. I had all the textbook symptoms including a really high fever. All flu symptoms. Good luck. Lots of rest and fluids.
Have salt baths 3 times a day and clean with a gauze with fresh salt water after the bath to remove puss and gunk, honestly it hurts to touch but I'm going through it now and it seems to be getting better and I am now on day 6 and been doing this since day 4 with my medication, hope your better soon x
Yea I ended up taking tynol for the fever and it went away! my fever only lasted a day& my outbreak symptoms did get a little worse. I start my anti viral medicine tomorrow so hopefully that works! Do you remember how high your fever was? mine was 102.7

Good to know my symptoms were normal. I was so nervous. My fever went away after a day due to taking tynol. Although it was pretty high at 102.7 it went away pretty quick. Now I just have the outbreak. I am able to start my medicine tomorrow. Thank you

Did you take any antiviral medicine or just doing the salt baths?
I have the medication the doctors gave me and just have these salt baths and the for the pain co codamol I'm fine now and have been for 3 days x
