hi, i was just recently diagnosed with genital herpes 2 weeks ago. my symptoms seem to have disappeared last week. And I’m still taking my supply of antiviral medication until Thursday (10 days). i had sex with my bf yesterday for the first time since this has happened. I was well lubricated so I dont understand how it could trigger another outbreak. but this morning I woke up to slight itching and what looks to be an ulcer in the same spot as before. I’m not in any pain at the moment but I’m freaking out since I just had my first outbreak. Why am I getting another one already? Is this common even on meds? Does this mean I’ll have a lot of recurrences?? HELP
It’s not another outbreak it’s probably the same one which has become irritated because it isn’t healed fully. Your not finished the full amount of valtrex, even after this your skin will need time.
Your body is trying to cope with this new virus. If your partner isn’t the person who transmitted hsv to you I would suggest not having sex until your finished the valtrex as you could he still shedding.
