Get Shorty

I had gone in for a sneaky cuddle and ended up nearly under his armpit.

I got hime to measure me three times.

"I have shrunk!"

"Hmmm, you have."

One whole inch and a half has gone - eeeek. I am now 5.5ft and my whole life I have been 5.6.5ft.

If you have stolen my inch and a half would you mind giving it back or telling me how I can retrieve it from the height thieves!

Those pesky height thieves!

I've been shrinking over the years, from 5ft 5 1/2 ins to 5ft 4 ins.  This is before my op and due to getting older I suppose.  My mum was teeny-tiny when she was 93 and we used to be the same height.  I don't want to get even smaller  [frown]

*to be read in the voice of Jeremy Clarkson*

Yeeeeees, and I can tell you that 1.5 inches can make all the difference!

That said, this thief is hyper-active! He has stolen an inch from me too. And that was before my operation!!

On the plus side, think of all the extra leg room on flights.

I don't either!

Where is it?

Have I squished all my cartilage? I imagined that the hardware in my hips would make me taller, not shorter.

I suspect that the missing height has been added to my bottom because that has grown!

Why are we shrinking? No one told me.

I have already found that someone has replaced all my boots with ill-fitting ones and that my body became unable to wear jeans about 18 months ago but losing inches? Eeeeek.

It is scary!! In my case, it is the start of old age and the effects of gravity. I understand that we are all a little bit taller in the morning than in the evenings.

That pesky height-thief took an inch off me before the operation, I hope he hasn't stolen another one- I'll have to go check now.

I didn't notice it after the first hip, RM, because I was rolling like a drunken sailor. I knew I was wonky but assumed that my 'done' side was the longer.

Michael, I shall be measuring in the morning! (if we go on like this it'll be like the 'measuring wall' the kids had growing up only now in reverse).

I was 5'9 and now 5'8...I think it has to do with our spine not our hip....

Hi Kate

Dont worry about shrinking it's something I have accepted. I don't know what I am after the op but when I was 18 at my medical for work I was 5'2". Just before the op I was measured and I was only 4'91/2", where has my 41/2" gone. It's been wasted away, I have curvature of the spine and I feel my discs are wearing. I am now 69years old, so I work it out at 1" every 10 years. If I live much longer there won't be much of me left.

Brenda

In knoooowwww --- shorter and wider .... I am hoping to gain a bit of height when I continue to practise standing / walking straight up and pelvic adjusted -

big warm hug you goregeous people ....

renee

And too short for my weight ......

Well I was before I lost 70 pounds (5 stones), and now I am again, just a bit, due to someone stealing an inch off me.

Graham - 🚀💃

Jeez, I'm spineless now, as well?

Eeeeek, Brenda, you are disappearing - we will all be liddle iddy biddy things before long

I have just had a lightbulb moment .

I argued (nicely) with the nurse doing my pre-op assessment when she said my BMI had gone up even though my weight was the same. Now I know it's the missing inches that are responsible.

And so well done, Graham, that weight loss is magnificent. I suppose there's nothing like rubbish hips to get you shedding weight.

My friend's MIL was told off by her new consultant recently - he suggested that some of her problems could be down to her being overweight. Apparently she referred him back to her weight before the first of 5 revisions (in 6 years - don't ask) when she was a slim size 10.

"I haven't had time to b****y diet because I am always in hospital"

Oh dear,

I haven't measured, but I have only had 1 hip done, so I should still 5'3".

Thats short enough.

Yep, he's had another half inch from me - that's more weight I have to lose now to get my BMI back.
