Can anyone tell me how soon after operation does one walk around without needing assistance from another person?
I had a posterior and it took me around 6 weeks to begin to start walking a bit without an aid right there. But I hear the recovery for anterior is much faster. I am sure some of the other anterior folks will respond. Either way be patient with the process.Happy recovery!
Dès que je suis sorti de l'hôpital (opération vendredi, retour à la maison dimanche), personne ne m'a aidé à marcher. J'utilisais un déambulateur mais n'avais pas besoin d'aide. J'ai tout de même eu des gens pour m'aider à la maison (je vis seule et ma sœur est restée 10 jours) et je n'aurais vraiment pas aimé être seule. Je pense qu'ici, il faut s'assurer que quelqu'un soit avec nous pendant 72 heures après notre retour à la maison... et je pense que c'est beaucoup à cause des médicaments contre la douleur. Mais j'avais besoin d'aide pour porter des choses en utilisant le déambulateur. J'ai encore besoin d'un peu d'aide mais je peux généralement me débrouiller. J'espère que cela aide.
Oh, je viens de remarquer que vous avez subi la chirurgie antérieure. Je ne suis pas sûr de la réponse dans ce cas. J'ai subi la chirurgie postérieure
I was in the hospital 3 days using a wheeled walker, at home I used wheeled walker about 2 weeks, used cane about 2 weeks...I had Anterior, so about 5 weeks unaided...
USA, Anterior 6/27/16, day 7 today, age 67, went into surgery not fit, all these factors matter, plus, how much you were manhandleled during surgery. I am still hobbling on a walker. Everyone is different. I have a lot of bruising and pain.

J'ai utilisé un déambulateur quand j'étais fatiguée, mais je m'en suis débarrassée la première semaine, j'ai conduit la semaine 2, ...3 semaines de kinésithérapie. Bonne chance

have you had your surgery already? You will be able to walk without another person helping you pretty much right away - but you will need an aid though -
I had a 4 wheels walker (rollator) as adviised because i live alone -

I had posterior, and was walking without someone else before discharge - so about 2 days. Of course, one feels unsteady and apprehensive, so having someone around is advisable for a few days until you gain confidence.
I found walking the supermarket with a trolley was great - the trolley supports you, and whoever takes you is there to help if needed.

I had one, 46 at the time, went in in the morning, used crutches 2 hours after surgery to go to the bathroom, home on the couch by 330 that same afternoon. I needed no help, just a slow mover up and down the stairs.
