I wouldn't do it yet as six weeks is early days, wait till you get the all clear from your surgeon, kneeling will usually put the hip to far back from knee.
If its that important get someone else to do it, your recovery is doing so well, why risk it, happy Christmas and happy hips
I would wait if you can,, I think at six weeks if you are comfortably walking 3 miles a day ,, you might be ok but don’t risk anything you don’t have to,, i myself have had no problems with my left THR
2 years ago,, but this time with my Right THR I got an infection have had 3 surgeries and am currently post op 2 weeks on a spacer
Awaiting my 4th surgery to get another Hip and was doing so well even with a spacer I was helping my daughters cook and was on my feet a lot on Christmas Day,, I knelt on my knees yesterday to pose for picture and got so scared!! I had to have help getting up off my knees, , and was hurting the rest of the day,,,I just did it without thinking, thank God I’m ok and didn’t dislocate or tear up anything,, but I sure regretted doing that and won’t do that again Lol!!😅. It’s
Hard to know what our limitations should be for how long,, but always better safe than sorry
Everyone's so right.
Dislocation risk is still high at 6 weeks - see the risk graph.
Getting down, and then getting back up are so difficult to do without breaking the '90 degree rule'.
Prepare for how difficult it is to get up, have someone that knows the 90 degree rule there to help you get up. We had a 'garden kneeler' which allowed me to use my arms to get up easily without slipping the first time.

Many thanks for your replies found them rely helpful
not prepared to take risk
started to think I maybe ok
Hi Calrofold,
I am 15 weeks. I, myself, will not get down on my knees yet!
Steve
I had a kneeling down exercise in my post op instruction book and started doing it at 2 weeks without any problems but I was quite fit before the op. The physio said most people do the kneeling exercise at 4-6 weeks. You have to kneel in a precise way and be careful to have something stable to hold on to when you stand up again. If you don’t have instructions of how to do it, it’s worth checking with your physio.
Best Wishes
Ann
Definitely not Carlo, ask someone else to do it for you if it cannot wait. You don't want to put all that good work to waste with risking dislocation.
