Getting of xanax

Hi I am addicted to xanax have been on them for over 20 years was taking 5/1mlg tablets a day currently I have been coming of them over the last 15 weeks having horrendous side effects doctor told me to take something else just for now I said no I have come this far I am now down to 0.5 mlg in total

Well done Gino.Your taper has been very fast and probably increasing your withdrawal symptoms however you are doing it so good on you.Sit on the dose you are on and let the withdrawal symptoms settle down before you go any further.l am tapering off valium 7.5mgs after 10 years however l am taking it low and slow.l am feel crap however l will get there in the end.

Hi Gino

I think you've done amazingly well. I really admire your courage as withdrawals are not easy. Hang in there. x

Gino, it takes a very long time to come off xanax after 20 years.

Congratulations on your tapering - but if your withdrawal symptoms are bad, it sounds like you're doing it too quickly.

I would have a discussion with your doctor about slowing down the tapering.

The last 0.5mg is the hardest to get off! Do it slowly, for your own sake.

I love xanex. I take .05 mg in the morning and I am good all day. I am not sure it was meant as a long term thing but I found heaven while I wait for my lexepro to start working. Could be worse things in this world. Sorry for the side affects but I like it a lot better than kalonipin or adavan.

Hey Marleen, I know what you're going through. Keep at it. The feeling crap thing does go away eventually.

I do hope you are only taking Xanax short-term, because of its addictive nature.

I thought the same thing but the doctor assured me that the low dosage would not hurt me.

That is good, but Xanax is addictive, so I am sure you will be careful.
