Getting older amI expecting too much

Hi all, just wondering how others are feeling now they are getting older (not old) just middle aged. I am female and 57 in May, work morning 9 -1.30 in a busy office environment, have a 17 year in sixth form who needs to be on the train at 7.30am each morning, hence we all get up at 6.00am to get him and hubby up and off.  Weekends are spent all over the place taking son to various sports events as he is only just 17 and does not drive, as well as doing the lions share of housework, shopping, gardening etc as hubby works long hours and is often away. It is just that I have noticed over the last couple of months that things are getting harder, I seem to be getting a dip around 3pm when I do not feel like I could sleep but just fatigued and completely deflated. I looked at the garden the other day and thought "oh no", it's that time again when I used to love gardening.  Hubby/son cuts grass due to arthritis in hands so at least I get away with not doing that. Really wondered whether it is natural to start feeling knackered as we age or should I try some supplements.  I do appreciate we are all different and some people are running marathons in their 80's and other half dead by 50.  Just interested in how age affects us all.

Hi there. Do get a thyroid and iron test just in case. I think most people feel like this with increasing age when I have talked to them. Maybe it's the body's way of telling us to slow down and savour life more and follow our heart more ("Stop, look and listen" isn't just good advice for children crossing roads, you know!).

Thanks for your reply. I am not feeling so bad today as I have been taking some iron tonic.  I do need to listen to my body as I run around like a mad thing, I hate the thought of getting old and not beeing able to do so much, but nothing will stop it happening so will just have to deal with it when it comes.  Take care

Yep indeed, can't do much else, but look at it this way...each and every one of us in this world is in the same boat. You take care too and keep remaining young at heart as that's the most important thing of all!
