Getting ready to wean off Mirtazapine via CITA medthod. Any supplements or vitamins to help?

I am trying to be as prepared as possible to come off this drug. Have tried 2 other times unsuccessfully and am now ready to try the CITA method. Are there any supplements or vitamins that may help the withdrawal process? I have been on 7.5 for about 4 years. I also am on ativan (1mg 3x day) and want to get off them next.

Forgot to add that I am also on Lunesta (eszopiclone), which looks like the Z drugs you talk about. I am in quite a pickle!!!! Also want to get off of that!! My current symptoms are lethargy, low grade nausea, fatigue, and a bit of depersonalization. I am pretty certain it is the combo of these drugs. And NONE are easy to get off of. I am 63 years old and feel like 93. I can't imaging what WD will bring.

I'm on 7.5mg too and also tried to come off it twice so I'm with you here! Cod liver oil and magnesium citrate were on my list and I believe they helped, although I stopped abruptly which is always the worst idea. Please keep us posted how're doing. Emanuel on this forum was trying the cita protocol but he's not posted in a long time, I wonder how he got on. Good luck! 

Yes, I plan on using the magnesium citrate oil that you rub on your skin for absorbtion, since I have a bowel problem taking magnesium tablets. I cannot take cod liver oil, as I have MS and the Vit. A in cod liver oil is too high for me. I think I read that lots of fish oil helps, though, so I plan on fish oil supplements along with tuna in a can. Can't stand salmon..lol Thanks for the reply!!

Hi Kathy I tried taking ambien but it didn't wok for sleep. So I'm kinda glad I didn't stay with it. Leave the adivan an and lunesta for last . I think you'll be fine. Just remeber to get the anti nausea, it works.

 

Lunesta has been a life saver for me. Hasn't pooped out for the amount of years I've taken it, but I see it's another nasty to get off of. With the ativan, I don't know. I think it's been making me sicker for the past few months. It's so hard to tell which one is doing what, ya know?

When I came of Mirt, I supplemented with magnesium oil spray, oral vit D3 spray, chromium( I read that chromium is depleted by Mirt) omega 3 krill oil, L.tryptophan and B vitamins. I would consider a good quality calcium plus vit k too. I just researched what vitamins and minerals Mirt depletes and took it from there. The magnesium is fantastic, does need balancing with calcium/vit k.

Yes, I have the spray. Haven't been using it and it expired. I am ordering some more tomorrow. I take D3, omega 3. L tryptophan scares me a bit, because one of the side effects can be nausea, and I have enough of that right now!!!. How much chromium do you take? I am also ordering a B complex. Should I get a Super B, or keep it at a regular dose? And how much calcium do you take? I have to be careful with that, too. Already take vit. k with the d3.

I got taken off 45 mg and the following day was put on a low dose of Trasadone, which after 3 weeks was abandoned due tos,side effects, then put back on Mirtazapine,!  Now also on Sertraline, two weeks ago as Mirtazapine is a sedative antidepressant, whereas the other s the same family as fluoxetine which is supposed to "pep you up".  The Mirtazapine has had no effect on the constant panic attacks and palpitations and so I'm on 2 x 40 mg propanol to  slow m heart rate.   I don't get going till late evening when I feel normal then tt's back to depression and lethargy again the next day.

Sorry for late reply. I would recommend you look at the Patrick Holford website (optimum health) he gives advice on optimum levels of vitamins. It does require some research.  The B vits I take are a Homocysteine Modulator blend by Solgar.

I also eat lots of mackerel and salmon and avocados, anything considered to be brain food. 

I came off Mirt cold turkey, I was on 45mg, I staggered my dies over a week or so but essentially I just stopped dead. It was a rash decision really, the withdrawal was horrendous. I still suffer insomnia almost 6 later.  I will never take a medication like Mirt again. Thankfully the magnesium and vit d3 are maintaining my mood, I don't know how but they are.  Good luck.
