Getting very worried

Hi there I am new to this.. 2 weeks ago I had a gum infection got antibiotics 2 days later started to feel unwell and thought I was having a heart attack couldn't get my heart to stop racing went to the doctor and he said I had a virus.. It's been 2 weeks now and I still feel bad and doctor gave me antibiotics on Monday for chest infection really starting to get to me.. I don't know what kind of viral thing I have never felt like this and it's scaring me

Antibiotics can make us feel washed out as your immune system starts to fight your infection. This is normal. Keep taking your Antibiotics, agreed dose, the full course of medications. This is important if you stop the dose your body may be unable to fight a future infection on this medication.

At this time of year infections are really common, you need to allow your body to fight your chest infection, however remember use the full script until the end.

PS

If you have a viral infection Antibiotics will not generally work.

If the infection is Biological, that can be cleared generally with a script of Antibiotics, take the full script to the end of the bottle.

Hi Mary!

First of all, the more you worry, the more your symptoms will accelerate, so try to take a step back and focus on what you know, rather than what you don't.

What you know is that you feel weird, what you know is you've been given medicine from a professional. Now in theory that Doctor knows what he's talking about and this virus should clear up soon.

Of course you are perfectly within your right to see a different doctor for a second opinion (or return to the existing Doctor for an update) and make sure you tell either option about the fact you're feeling worried.

Help and support is always out there, you just have to speak up!

Also, remember that the combination of an infection, a virus, foreign chemicals (medicine) plus a different infection (or variant of the original) are bound to make you feel wonky! It's ok to feel ill! Take some time for yourself, put your feet up as much as possible, ask people around you for help while you have a little downtime and go see that Doc again if you're worried.

Thank you for replying.. It's just I felt not too bad yesterday but today I feel absolutely awful.. daiorhea and feeling sick I rushed to be sick but nothing coming up.. having to force myself to eat.. just making me feel really anxious keep thinking my body is shutting down

Thank you for replying.. my husband keeps telling me they should be working and should be feeling better I have been taking them since Monday so it's got me very panicky and thinking I have something more wrong with me

Mary,,

The antibiotics will make you feel washed out  as your body attacks any infection you may have, this is normal, you will feel better as the infection sorts out. These sensations are normal. At this time the Doctor will have given you a strong dose of medication because the effectiveness is not as good.

Your body needs time, there is nothing to worry about. Takes the medications, good luck we are always here.

Antibiotics do not work on a virus, they are given for a Biological Infection. The general side effects of an Antibiotic are feeling ill and washed out because the bodies immune system is working too clear infections.

Being washed out is normal there are no worries

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me it has made me feel a bit more relaxed.. It's just so frustrating feel not so bad 1 minute then feeling ill again the next was starting to scare me.. I have had a bad case of a cold or stomach bug but this is all new to me I usually manage to avoid getting really sick
