Getting worse!!!

Hi I have had menieres for over two years been confirmed but I know it's been longer. But since coming back from our holiday it seems to be getting a lot worse since the 1st August I have had five bouts of dizziness where I have to go to bed. Also inbetween that I'm having days where I feel drunk and sick. So am not much use to anyone this passed month I'm so worried I don't know what to do. Has anyone else gone through a stage like this? Does it get better?

Hi Sarita. I was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago. In the beginning I would have a couple of full attacks ( bedridden, vomiting), then nothing for a few months. Recently though I've had a few full attacks but between them the symptoms aren't completely going anymore. I've recently had a full month of spinning just if I lie down or tip my head back. I think the unfortunate thing with menieres is that it has so many different stages, and affects people in so many different ways, that you never know what to expect each time it reappears. Not much help I know, but I do sympathise with you. As I type my hearing is virtually nil in my right ear, and the fullness feeling is so great, I feel another attack won't be too far in the future!!

Thanks for replying that's exactly what it's like for me at the moment. The ringing in my ear is so loud and sensitive when people shout. But the hearing is so bad now in that ear I have to have a hearing aid which help a little. I hope you don't have a bad attack it so horrid .

My next hospital appt is sept. I think they will probably give me a hearing aid then. My hearing doesn't come back anymore. Do you follow the low salt, alcohol and caffeine diet? Boring i know, but I think it does help. You mentioned you'd been on holiday. Perhaps if you ate and drank the no-no foods, it might have helped towards your recent attacks

Hi on holiday I didn't follow the whole diet properly so am making up for it now. I'm thinking that's what kicked started these attacks. My hearing doesn't come back anymore either but can't be without the hearing aid now am lost if it breaks. I'm at hospital in September to I'm going to ask if the steroid injection has worn of now it's been nine months since I had one.

I've only had Serc tablets and more recently a water tablet daily. Never been offered anything else! I hear of people having grommets fitted or steroid injections but other treatments haven't been discussed at my hospital visits. Do the steroid injections work? I think when I'm going through a bad time, I'm willing to try anything. I try to stick to the diet but it's so difficult. And I find I start to lose too much weight when I cut out everything with salt!

I've never been given water tablets but like u said I am willing to try anything to feel normal again it's getting me down. I've had a grommet and injection in November last year and they seemed to work really well until now so that's why I'm thinking it's worn off. If I was u I would ask about the grommet and injection an see if it helps u x

Hi sarita

my husband is experiencing exactly the same symptoms at the moment. He was diagnosed 3 years ago but recently the symptoms have got much worse, to the extent that he is unable to work some days, worrying, as he is self employed, so no work, no money. I feel so sad because I can't help him. He has had the steroid injection in that ear, which

Sorry sent too early hee hee. The steroid injection did help initially but hasn't made any difference this time. I've just spoken to someone at the Menieres Society, who has been very helpful and she told me that the recent hot weather does affect menieres sufferers. The main thing I think is to not panic, try to find ways to reduce stressors in your life and to enjoy the times when you're feeling good. I find this forum helps me as its really frightening and isolating watching your loved one go through this. Thinking of you both Tanya and Sarita. X

Hi Angie. Sympathies for your husband. It sort of helps to know there's others out there that understand how you feel. My partner struggles to see me go through dizzy spells as he feels so helpless. I too worry about work. I've had a few sick days off and worry this will lead to me losing my job eventually. If this happens, I can't see anyone else employing me! I read of menieres eventually burning itself out. If this is true, it certainly can't come quick enough for me

Thanks Angie for that info I wonder if the weather does effect me as well everything else does lol. I do feel for your husband must be hard when having to work with meneries I was looking for work but can't see anyone employing me at the moment. I with u Tanya I can't wait for it to burn itself out when ever that may be x
