Gf has sores all over body and seizures!

For 4 months my gf has had a sore on her leg get bigger and bigger, it just would not heal and would leak fluid and yellow stuff. Now they are appearing all over her body and she is having seizures, yet docs or hospital do not know what is wrong still!! What could It be?!!

That sounds like an infection of some kind, along with the seizures.

Has your girlfriend been bitten by anything?  Have you been abroad?  She can't be left with an open wound and no treatment.

What country are you in?

She's on the strongest antibiotics they can give her. It all started with a small cut from an alcohol bottle smashed at her workplace.

Haven't been abroad or anything and doctors keep fobbing her off as she's on anti b's but nothing is helping! She says she thinks she's dying and hospital simply refuse to do any further tests!

Is there any chance that there is a small piece of glass in the wound Paul?

I guess there's always the chance but the docs have looked at it and they cleaned it up and put dressings on it etc...

But its so unusual that she now has about 15 of the same sores appearing all over her body?? The docs said they've never seen anything like it

That isn't right, is it.  It does sound like an infection of some description.  Something left in the wound wouldn't cause similar lesions to appear all over her body.

Have you seen a Consultant?  You need to nag the hospital and ask to see the Consultant, is your girl friend under a Dermatologist or who is it she is seeing?

Its so frustrating it just feels like they're not taking it seriously and its taking over her entire body and making her feel so sick. I just wish these antibiotics would do something! No, no consultant, we're in u.k so it's quite difficult to be referred to a specialist, absolutely useless! Just being passed from GP to hospital atm with neither helping! They're testing for diabetes which I highly doubt it is and the general blood tests they done all came back perfectly normal...

Could you see a different doctor in your practice?  Maybe a fresh set of eyes might help.

I wonder whether a course of steroids would help.  4 months is a long time with no progress.

Maybe she should see a doctor from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)  Unfortunately, it could be some kind of a parasite.  The doctor should be able to do a stool sample plus a sample of the fluid from her legs....it doesn't sound like something a doctor should ignore!!! If your doctor can't help you, possibly set an appt for yourself to see a doctor from the CDC.  Good Luck, Paul

Make the doctors earn their money and ask them to either find out what it is or refer you to someone who can tell you what it is...that just isn't right to keep you in limbo...at her expense!!  I found a writing regarding doctors and referrals...in the US if the doctor doesn't...DOES NOT refer you...they get a bonus!!!  My daughter plays the cello and her wrist was hurting so badly and I asked if she could go see a Physical Therapist...the doctor said...no..she doesn't need one...Well the next time I made an appt with that same doctor, I tore out that article about doctors and referrals...and gave it to her...she had a referral in hand before I left....Check if the doctors in the UK have that same practice!

Good luck

Whereabouts in the UK are you Paul?  Have you ever been to A&E?  Try going to a large hospital, during the week, when the clinics are running, they might send you round to the appropriate clinic
