Hi Kirsty,
Yes I distinctly remember some itching and the armpits can be a common area because there's lots of glands in there. I had various sore joints and things at different times too, just hoping this all settles soon for you. That's wise to get blood tests done and if it shows normal do take it as reassurance that it's the virus causing this and that it will ease and go away completely in time.
Hope you're feeling not too bad today, thinking of you!
Craig
I have itchy legs, to the pint they bleed. I don't know the reason, they say you have dry skin, but I have always had dry skin. I think this is more related to lymphatic system not working properly.
My blood tests except EBV are ready and the IGG and IGM are normal, just IGG is very close to the highest point. Anyone done these tests? Does this mean I don't have EBV?
Fingers crossed craig just want to feel myself again my throat, neck, jaw and ear really sore at the moment along with swollen glands 🙁 and my neck feels very stiff and tight (all of these on my left side) checked my mouth for signs of tonisilitus doctors keep saying looks red and inflamed but thts it 🙁 wish there was something they could give me iburofen/paracetamol dont work the best for me..hope everyone has more good days soon my body pains are less intense and i think my spleen has shrunk a little hoping all our nasty symptoms go away very soon!!
Oh Kirsty I know I really wish there was something the doctors could give that would kill the virus stone dead. In many ways it would be easier if it was bacterial infection and not viral, as at least they can give antibiotics then.
Really hoping today can be a better today with all these pains, thinking about you still and remember still that you are going to get better - no matter how difficult it seems right now, this all passes and you will feel fit and healthy again once this horrible period is over. Hang in there for now!

Sorry Christine I don't have an understanding of the various terms in the blood tests for EBV, all I know is that I tested positive for EBV at the start when I had it and after that the tests showed normal, apart from one other time a couple of years later when it raised again - that made me really worry as though I was going to have to go through it all again, but it settled down very quickly. Remember you can only be infected once with this so nothing can be as bad as the first time that this hits you, any mini-relapses later down the line usually settle quickly.
Hoping this horrible itching settles for you Christine, that sounds a real pain. I think it can be a good sign in a way the itching, means that some kind of healing in the nervous system is happening I think.

Bloods were ok when i went back to the docs however i wasnt impressed with the doctor i saw and feel like im getting nowhere in my surgery he told me that my symptoms have went on to long to be GF he said my lymph nodes were up in my neck and back of neck but didnt bother to do a check anywhere else on my body...im starting to get a little freaked out now as my throat neck jaw and ear are really sore.... surely a sore throat shouldnt last 3 month 🙁 ENT app to follow this week....
Thanks Craig! Still I havent heard back from my Doctor for EBV test results. This means there is nothing to report. I now have this annoying headache only on the right side, needle like stabbing pain. I have so many symtpoms that even I get confused which one I should mention.
Hi Poppy,
Sorry to hear about not seeing a good doctor and getting much help - I really sympathise with this as I've had so many times I've felt doctors could have done more to reassure me or help me and didn't take enough care. Many doctors, especially GPs, dont' seem to realise how long mono can go on for, want to reassure you that for me it went on for many months but did get better and I've seen the same in the posts of so many folks on the forum here - remember you WILL get better. One lymph node in my neck was painful for months and months, but it did get better along with all the other symptoms.
Hoping the ENT appointment can be more helpful next week. Do take it as encouraging that the bloods are fine, I know the feeling when it's frustrating because you don't want the blood tests to show anything bad but you want some kind of explanation as to why you feel this way - be reassured this means nothing else is wrong and it's most likely to be the mono causing this - but hopefully the ENT folk can be better and take more time and be more supportive. Thinking of you!

Hoping all these symptoms settle down Christine and that the blood results are okay. Take it as reassuring if they are, although i know the frustratings and feelings of not wanting anything bad to show but still wanting an explanation at least for how bad you've been feeling. Other than the first blood test I had with mono, all my other ones during the main period of the virus were fine despite feeling horrible - I couldn't understand it but that seems to be a normal course for the virus, that even after when EBV shows ok in the blood tests, you're still experiencing these horrible post-viral effects which can last for months.
But key thing to remember is that you WILL get better and won't be stuck like this - just hang in there I know how hard it is to deal with a single day when in the worst throws of this virus. This will pass and better and healthy days will be ahead - even if it takes a bit of time I believe that will definitely come for you Christine, trusting God.
