For people with ghsv-1, what are your experences with your partners? are transmission stats true? do you take antivirals? how long did you wait to have sex after diagnosis? number of outbreaks?
Sorry, I’m scared of this virus. I feel hopless. I was so paranoid of stds and now I got this. This situation looks like a karma. I used to reject guys that have had sleep with lots of people because I was afraid of catching something. Now I know that no one is risk free.
When I was in college I had some sex talks and I always thought this would never happen to me. Very naive.
I am the same as you, I am so scared of catching something. I don’t think it is karma, unfortunately some people carry viruses without any symptoms. That is why they are so easily spread.
i have hsv2 which is generally more likely to outbreak but i hope these answers help anyway. my boyfriend doesnt care thankfully and we have a normal sex life. if i have an idea that im having an outbreak i tell him and we just dont have sex. i have a batch of antivirals to start when i feel the beginning of itching and this stops the outbreak from getting worse. ive had it for 4 years now and maybe have an outbreak once a year if that. my partner has had no symptoms and have been together for 3 years. we dont use condoms but that is his decision as he is fully informed that he may get this from me. i had a horrific first year with three outbreaks in a row so i took antivirals everyday for a year. i always wait 1 week after an outbreak clears before any sexual contact.
